Car accessories that you shouldn't install in your car.

Car accessories help drivers drive more easily, comfortably, or simply to create a more enjoyable experience. However, not all of them are beneficial; some even pose potential dangers to those inside the vehicle.

Here are three types of car accessories that you should consider having inside your vehicle.

Steering wheel cover

A steering wheel cover might seem like a good idea for older cars or those with thin, plastic steering wheels. However, some car models may find that using a steering wheel cover makes the steering wheel too thick. This can reduce the driver's grip or make driving inconvenient.

Furthermore, after some time of use, the steering wheel cover may stretch out, causing it to no longer fit snugly around the steering wheel, resulting in it rotating freely.

Improper use of steering wheel covers can easily damage the steering wheel. There have been many cases where steering wheel covers were used for a long time without being removed for cleaning, causing the original steering wheel to become moldy and severely degraded.

Floor mats

Floor mats are a popular car accessory among many owners because they not only enhance the aesthetics of the interior but are also easy to clean. However, if floor mats are too thick, coupled with improper installation and use, it can lead to the risk of the accelerator pedal getting stuck, causing sudden acceleration and loss of control of the vehicle.

In Vietnam, there have been no incidents related to oversized floor mats causing car accidents. However, in the US, the Japanese automaker had to recall more than 3.8 million vehicles in 2009 because floor mats obstructed the accelerator pedal, causing the car to accelerate uncontrollably and resulting in four fatalities.

Therefore, if users still use floor mats for their car, they should use them in other areas. For the driver's seat, users should use the car's original floor mats or those specifically designed for the driver. Remember to choose mats that are just the right size, not too bulky, and securely fastened.

For many people, a car is not just a means of transportation but like a second home. They beautify the interior with many accessories and decorations. However, car accessories such as phone holders, rhinestones on the steering wheel, etc., when placed in front of the driver, can completely distract the driver or, worse, cause safety problems.

In some countries, installing car accessories within the driver's line of sight is illegal. Therefore, if you want to use your phone's infotainment and navigation system, the best way is to connect your phone to the car's infotainment screen.

In this way, users can avoid having to use car accessories such as phone holders, thereby reducing interaction with their phones and focusing more on driving.
