Nghe An boy works as a technology engineer at Facebook

Doan Hai Giang (from Nghe An) is working as a software engineer for the famous technology company Facebook. In addition, Giang is also the co-founder and currently Chairman of the Board of Directors of HumanRank Company in the US.

In August 2011, Hai Giang went to the US to study computer science at the University of Iowa (Iowa state), but in June 2012, Giang transferred to the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In 2013, Hai Giang was hired by two of the world's technology giants, Google and Facebook. After thinking it over, Giang chose Facebook.

Sharing about this decision, Giang confided: "It is very difficult to get into Facebook and Google because each year there are up to 1 million applications, so I am very happy to be accepted by both places. However, I chose to work at Facebook because I feel it is more suitable for me. I feel the environment here is very good for technology engineers and importantly, I feel excited and comfortable when working."

Quit a salary of 100,000 USD/year to join Facebook

Nguyen Hai Khanh - a former student of the Advanced Program of the Faculty of Information Technology, University of Natural Sciences, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City is a Vietnamese man who gave up a salary of 100,000 USD/year from Google to join Facebook.

Khanh said he gave up Google to join Facebook because he got used to the environment here during his 3-month internship. In addition, Khanh's goal was to go to America, so he chose Facebook instead of going to Google in Australia.

The young man shared that it is very difficult for a new graduate to get a starting salary of 2,000 USD/month if working in Vietnam, so if you want a higher salary, you need to make an effort to find a job abroad or at international companies with branches in Vietnam.

“Many of my classmates have achieved this salary, some even achieved higher levels. In particular, there are 4 students working at Garena, Singapore with an income of 3,000 - 5,000 USD/month" - Khanh said.

25-year-old Google software engineer

While studying his final year of computer science and mathematics at Drexel University, in August 2017, Nguyen Huu Minh Tuan, now 25 years old, was hired as a full-time employee and worked as a software engineer for Advertising Platform at Google's headquarters in Silicon Valley, USA.

The student chose Google because he thought it was the best environment for his future. In addition to benefits such as salary, insurance, restaurants with menus that blend cuisines from all over the world, and many other perks, Google is also a gathering place for smart and creative people. The young man wants to learn and work with these wonderful people.

“Most importantly, I interned here so I will have a quicker and smoother start when I return as an official employee, as the saying goes, “a good start makes a good ending” - Tuan said.

Nguyen Huu Minh Tuan was a student at Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted in Da Nang City. In grades 10 and 11, he won the Gold Medal at the 30.4 Olympic Maths (valedictorian of grade 11).

In grade 12, Tuan won second prize in the national math competition for excellent students and first prize in the math competition in the Math and Youth newspaper.

2 hotboys recruited by the British Government

Chris Khoa Nguyen, or commonly known as Chris Khoa, was born in Prague (Czech Republic). He graduated with a degree in Economics & International Relations from the University of Exeter, UK. During his studies, Chris Khoa was elected as the representative for international students at the University of Exeter for 2 consecutive years.

Khoa is fluent in 7 languages ​​(Czech, English, Vietnamese, Spanish, Slovak, Korean and Chinese) and has received up to 6 internship offers from leading companies such as Google, Apple, Goldman Sachs, BlackRock, Bank of England and HSBC.

With his perfect appearance, Chris Khoa is also the first Vietnamese model for Abercrombie and Fitch and many other famous brands and designers.

Chris Khoa has twice turned down formal employment at Google and several other large companies to work for the British Government. Khoa shares that here, Khoa will work with parliamentarians and ministers, research and share with them his opinions on policy issues. Khoa's focus is on fair market competition.

Before Chris Khoa, there was another Vietnamese man who was also accepted by the British Government. That is, Vu Do Khanh (born in 1992) who won a full scholarship from 3 of the world's most prestigious universities: Oxford University, Harvard and Graduate Institute Geneva in the 2016-2017 academic year.

Khanh became the first Vietnamese student to be admitted to the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford, one of the schools with the highest admissions at Oxford University.

In 2017, Vu Do Khanh graduated with honors from the Master of Public Policy program and became the first Vietnamese person to work for the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport, a British government agency in London. Before being officially hired, Khanh had to undergo a rigorous security check that lasted more than a month.

Khanh's current job at the UK Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport is to provide policy advice on UK Government projects related to youth (Youth Policy).

Female student studying abroad in Japan wins title of “Outstanding Young Leader”

Nguyen Quynh Anh, born in 1998, received a full scholarship to study abroad at Tokyo International University and is currently a second-year student at the school.

Recently, she was awarded the title "Outstanding Young Leader 2017" by Tokyo International University. Quynh Anh said that the "Outstanding Young Leader 2017" certificate is an encouragement award from the school for department heads who have made contributions after a period of active extracurricular activities at school.

“Some typical events that I have participated in are organizing the International Fair, the Vietnamese cooking event, and during the year we also set up weekly programs and games to help bridge the gap between international students and Japanese students at the school,” Quynh Anh said.

In particular, in the Miss Vietnamese Students in Japan 2017 contest, Quynh Anh also received a special award for the most highly rated performance. She said that the special award for her best performance was given by a special guest, the wife of the Vietnamese Ambassador to Japan.

“Each contestant had to answer one question from the judges and one question from the ambassador’s wife. My two questions were considered the most difficult by everyone, but luckily I was able to answer them confidently, so I was lucky to win the special prize,” Quynh Anh shared.
