Pokémon GO is a popular game all over the world today and on August 6, Vietnam also joined this trend when the Pokémon game was officially released.
However, it is worth noting that the Pokémon game has caused many disastrous consequences for players around the world after less than a month of release. Here are the 5 most typical incidents:
1. The groom was so engrossed in catching Pokémon that he forgot about the bride.

Elizabeth Corps from Chessington (UK) held her wedding at the end of July with groom Joe Whiddelt. However, the important event of a lifetime was somewhat neglected when the wedding venue was an arena for Pokémon GO gamers. Even groom Joe “forgot” about his wife because he was so engrossed in his phone conquering virtual animals. Luckily, the wedding party ended without any unfortunate incidents.
2. Fired for not being allowed to play Pokémon GO

A Vietnamese man named Sonny Truyen living in Singapore was fired in mid-July after posting an outrageous status on his personal Facebook page. Accordingly, Sonny Truyen said that Singapore is not a country worth living in because there is no Pokémon GO.
Sonny Truyen’s rude comments were immediately sent to 99.co and the company’s director fired Sonny shortly after. The director claimed that Sonny had “only been working for a week” and did not accept the new employee’s attitude.
3. Risk of being blown to pieces while playing Pokémon GO.

On July 19, Bosnian authorities warned Pokemon players to be careful not to step on landmines while hunting virtual animals. The warning was issued because there are still 120,000 unexploded landmines in Bosnia from the 1990 war. Many players innocently enter areas marked as prohibited because there are still many unexploded landmines underground.
4. Shot dead for playing Pokémon GO

On July 20, two brothers, Jerson and Daniel, from the city of Chiquimula, Guatemala, were shot 20 times while catching Pokémon. According to Mirror, the two brothers were walking along a railway track on the street when a series of shots rang out. Jerrson died at the hospital and Daniel suffered serious injuries to his leg.
Police believe someone with a personal grudge against the brothers carried out the attack. Jerson’s mother said her son was sitting on his bed when he ran outside because “someone asked him to play Pokémon.”
This is the first case of a Pokémon player being killed. Previously, in mid-July, a young man in the US was engrossed in driving his car to catch virtual animals when he crashed into a tree, destroying his car. Luckily, he was not killed.
5. World-class athletes fined for Pokémon

Kohei Uchimura is a Japanese gymnast who has won the world all-around gold medal six times. However, recently, while participating in the 2016 Rio Olympics, he was punished for secretly playing Pokémon GO.
Brazil does not yet allow users to play Pokémon, so catching virtual pets is illegal. When Kohei was caught playing Pokémon during practice, he was immediately fined. In his home country of Japan, Kohei also had to pay up to $5,000 in mobile phone charges for playing Pokémon GO.
Pokémon Go is an augmented reality game based on the popular comic series of the same name by Nintendo and Niantic Labs. In the game, players play the role of trainers who catch virtual Pokémon. The appeal of the game lies in the rare and high-level animals. |
