Terrorism in Syria
The war-torn Middle Eastern country is now not only threatened by IS but also by multiple militant groups using identical tactics.
"Terrorists try to renew their image while maintaining their combat capabilities. That is worrying," the Russian president said in September, commenting on terrorist groups' attempts to join the opposition in Syria.
US Secretary of State John Kerry
During a 2013 congressional hearing, Secretary of State John Kerry was asked whether bombing Syria would strengthen al-Qaeda’s position there. The official replied that al-Qaeda had no presence in Syria.
"He's lying. And Kerry knows he's lying. That's worrying," Putin commented.
Russian youth lack knowledge of history
Nowadays, it seems that many young people are not interested in the events of recent days, and this has not escaped the attention of President Putin.
"It's sad because young people today have no role models to look up to, don't see any heroes and don't even know when World War II took place."
Lack of cinemas in Russian towns and villages
Cinemas in small settlements do not exist. That is sad. All of us, the government - first and foremost, the regional authorities - need to do more to restore this network, President Putin said.
Former economic minister arrested
When Alexei Ulyukayev, Russia's former economic development minister, was arrested by authorities on corruption charges, President Putin was very upset.
"What happened is sad. However, I want to say that we must continue to work hard, not allowing similar things to happen again," President Putin said when referring to the government's determination to fight corruption.
