In 2013, the Sunday People obtained confidential FBI documents investigating Michael Jackson’s sexual abuse of at least 24 children over a 15-year period. The FBI files included thousands of pages of reports detailing allegations and evidence that Michael had sexually abused boys since 1989. The reports were accompanied by phone recordings.
Since 1993, there have been at least four major lawsuits against Michael Jackson, all of which involve child molestation. The first was Evan Chandler, who sued Michael Jackson for sexually abusing his 13-year-old son, Jordan Chandler. The star never faced any charges, but paid an out-of-court settlement of around $40 million.
In the early 2000s, Michael Jackson was arrested on child molestation charges and posted $3 million bail. In 2004, the court found Michael Jackson not guilty.
In 2015, Wade Robson and James Safechuck - two self-proclaimed victims - pursued a similar lawsuit and demanded large compensation from the $1.5 billion estate left by Michael Jackson. The Jackson Estate is the organization that receives and handles the lawsuit on behalf of Michael Jackson.
According to Wade and James' lawyers, Michael Jackson spent $200 million to silence more than 20 victims of his sexual abuse. This is the total amount of money Michael had to spend to settle a series of sexual abuse lawsuits from 1993 until his death.
