(Baonghean.vn) - After nearly 7 years of unfinished construction, the section of National Highway 48 passing through the irrigation dam and canal of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project has now been put into use. Local people and vehicles have escaped the "road of suffering" in the dusty dry season and muddy rainy season.

Since 2017, the section of National Highway 48 passing through the irrigation dam and lake canal belongs toBan Mong Reservoir ProjectThe nearly 1.5 km long road (including a 54 meter long bridge) was newly built, replacing the old section of National Highway 48. However, after nearly 7 years of construction, this road has been unfinished, making travel very difficult for local people.

Mr. Vi Van Tan in Tan Lac town, Quy Chau district shared: Previously, people had to follow the road to avoid National Highway 48, which was often full of potholes, and after each rain the road became muddy, making accidents more likely to occur. Now, the road has been completed, making it very convenient for people to travel.

A representative of the People's Committee of Quy Chau district said: Once this road is completed, in addition to making it easier for people to travel, it will also help people transport raw materials such as acacia, sugarcane, and cassava, solving traffic congestion every time vehicles pass through here.

According to information from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the National Highway 48 project passing through the irrigation dam and canal of the Ban Mong Reservoir Project has a total capital of nearly 74 billion VND. However, during the construction process, the lack of capital caused the project to be temporarily suspended.

By early December 2023, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development continued to arrange capital of over 10 billion VND. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development directed the Project Management Board for Investment in Construction of Agricultural and Rural Development Works to quickly urge the contractor to implement construction to ensure quality and progress of the project so that the new road could be completed.
