| Donating a cow to the family of Ms. Vi Thi Chau in Xieng village, Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district. |
In Mon Son commune, Con Cuong district, the Nghe An Border Guard Command organized the handover of 7 cows to 7 families in extremely difficult circumstances in the commune. While the number of cows is not large, this is a meaningful gift thanks to the voluntary contributions of the officers and soldiers of the Nghe An Border Guard. Each cow is valued at 10 million VND. The handover of breeding cows helps poor households have livestock to raise and develop their economy. In this cow distribution round, two families in Xieng village received cows from the Border Guard, with the family of Ms. Vi Thi Chau being the most disadvantaged. This year, Ms. Chau is over 55 years old, and despite working diligently, her life is extremely difficult, lacking capital to invest in livestock production, so her family remains a poor household in Xieng village, Mon Son commune. Leading the cow by the hand, Mrs. Chau couldn't hide her emotion: "My family consists of five people, all living together in one house, including my great-grandmother. We are all old now and can no longer work in the fields. The livelihood of five depends entirely on the farming activities of my son and his wife, so we face many difficulties. Seeing our situation, the Border Guard provided us with breeding cows, helping our family to raise livestock, develop our economy, and build a prosperous and happy life!"
Also receiving a cow in this donation, Ms. Ha Thi Van said that her family and the people in the commune are grateful to the Nghe An Border Guard, specifically the Mon Son Border Guard Post, for helping her family obtain capital for production. With the cow donated by the Border Guard, she will take good care of it, and after it reproduces, it will provide capital to expand production in the area and help many other households have capital for production and livestock farming, contributing to poverty reduction.
Present at the cattle handover ceremony, Mr. Luong Van Tuan shared: “For the people of Mon Son commune in general and the families receiving the cattle in particular, this is a great joy. In the past, the Nghe An Border Guard, in addition to contributing labor and money, has also called upon philanthropists and organizations to support and invest billions of dong in the construction of many meaningful projects for the people of Mon Son commune. These projects have contributed to improving the lives of the people. This cattle donation to the households is an opportunity to provide families with livestock to develop their economy. We will continue to maintain this initiative so that more poor households in the commune can have the opportunity to develop their family economy...”
It is expected that in 2014, the Nghe An Border Guard will continue to donate cows to 30 households in three poor communes: Mon Son (Con Cuong district), Tam Hop (Tuong Duong district), and Bac Ly (Ky Son district). The money to buy the cows is taken from the voluntary donation fund of officers and soldiers of the provincial Border Guard. Lieutenant Colonel Le Nhu Cuong - Deputy Head of Political Affairs of the Nghe An Border Guard, said: The Nghe An Border Guard is implementing a program to help three poor communes in the border area, all of which are classified as particularly difficult. Based on surveys conducted by Border Guard units in the area, to practically help households with capital for production and economic development, the Nghe An Border Guard Command has adopted a policy of helping people through specific and practical actions, gradually overcoming difficulties in life, thereby expanding the movement to eradicate hunger and reduce poverty in the border area...
In addition to the Party and State's poverty alleviation efforts for the poor, the actions taken by the Nghe An Border Guard will serve as a driving force, helping poor people and impoverished households in the province's border areas to improve their lives and achieve stability.
