The joy of prisoners whose sentences were reduced and released to celebrate Tet
(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 7, many prisoners at Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center were released early and returned home to celebrate Tet with their families.
On the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2024, Nghe An Provincial Police Detention Center issued a Decision to release 3 prisoners early and a Decision to reduce the sentence of 23 prisoners, of which 4 had their sentences reduced completely.

These prisoners were sentenced to between 6 and 27 months in prison for the crimes of gambling, trading in contraband, etc. Accordingly, the prisoners all had good rehabilitation processes, strictly followed discipline, rules and regulations during their sentence. During this period, many prisoners had their sentences reduced from 2 to 4 months in prison.
With a 27-month prison sentence for "Gambling", Mr. NKB (residing in Do Luong) had to celebrate a sad Tet holiday in detention. Owing his 5-year-old child a promise to return home for Tet this year, Mr. B. was quite busy and eager to complete the procedures to be released from prison.
“Last year, although the New Year's Eve at the camp was well organized by the staff, I was not able to be with my relatives. I felt very sad and sorry because I missed my family. This year, I was able to come home to celebrate Tet with my family. I felt so happy, I couldn't describe it. Now at home, I'm waiting for my dad to come home to shop and prepare for the upcoming Tet,” said NKB.

The work of reducing sentences and releasing prisoners early has demonstrated the leniency policy of the Party and State and the humanitarian tradition of our nation, and at the same time is a great encouragement, encouraging those who are serving prison sentences to repent, reform, and actively reform in order to receive a reduction in their prison terms.
