Initial information, Ms. Dinh Thi Hong Yen Nguyet (born 1984, residing in Hoa Thang commune, Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak) has been in a love relationship with Thu for about 4 years.
After a period of dating, this relationship was opposed by the family, so about a month ago, Ms. Nguyet asked to break up.
At about 1am on October 22, Thu went to Ms. Nguyet's flower shop on Nguyen Thai Binh Street (Hoa Thang Commune), but because it was late, Thu sat outside and waited.
2 hours later, Thu managed to break into the flower shop. At this time, Ms. Nguyet woke up and went downstairs to see Thu sitting on the chair.

Fire scene. |
After pouring gasoline all over the flower shop, Thu asked Ms. Nguyet "do you want to break up again?" then used a gas lighter to set the flower shop on fire.
The fire broke out, Ms. Nguyet screamed and ran up the stairs to save her child and apprentice, but Thu pulled Ms. Nguyet out. After committing the crime, due to burns, Thu took a taxi to the hospital for emergency treatment.
The flower shop fire caused Nguyen Phuong Uyen (born 2003, Nguyet's daughter) and Nguyen Thi Van (born 2000, residing in Dak Song district, Dak Nong province, an apprentice) to die on the spot.
Ms. Nguyet suffered severe burns and is being treated at Cho Ray Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. Thu also suffered burns to 30% of his body and is being treated at Dak Lak General Hospital.
At the police station, Thu only admitted to being present at the fire and dragging Ms. Nguyet out, but did not set the fire. However, after the investigation and verification process, using professional measures, on November 1, the Dak Lak Provincial Police Department had enough grounds to determine that Thu was the suspect who poured gasoline to burn down the flower shop, so they decided to detain him in an emergency.
