At around 10 p.m. on January 10, several loud explosions were heard in the area under the control of the 273rd Armored Brigade (under the 3rd Corps) in Kdang Commune, Dak Doa District (Gia Lai), causing local residents to panic and flee to Highway 19. Many people several kilometers away still heard the explosion.

"After the loud explosions, red smoke and fire rose high, sometimes shooting up like fireworks, my house about 3 km away could still be seen," the woman described the explosion, her voice trembling.

According to Dak Doa district leaders, the area where the explosion occurred was the Brigade’s ammunition depot, located far away from the military base. Residents in the adjacent area and soldiers in nearby barracks were evacuated to ensure safety.

"I am at the scene directing the relevant departments to inspect and handle the incident. There is no information about casualties or consequences of the explosion," the leader said, adding that the ammunition depot is surrounded by a solid fence, about 2 km from the residential area.

At 1:30 a.m., authorities were still blocking off the scene, with fire trucks and ambulances on standby to assist the 3rd Army Corps in dealing with the incident. However, scattered explosions were still heard, making it impossible for authorities to approach.
