Raw water source for Hung Vinh Water Plant – Vinh City is mainly exploited from Dao River – Nam Dan, but recently due to prolonged dry weather, Lam River has been depleted, greatly affecting the Dao River water source. From May until now, there have been many times when the Dao River level (at Cau Muou) has dropped to -0.3 m compared to the designed low water level.

Faced with that reality, Nghe An Water Supply One Member Co., Ltd. has dredged mud, cleared the flow at the raw water collection pits of Cau Muou and Cau Duoc Pumping Stations, and reinforced the barrier system and prevented oil and grease from being discharged by ships on the river. Mr. Le Duc Thang - Deputy Director of Hung Vinh Water Plant said: "To meet the raw water source for the operation of Hung Vinh Water Plant, every day Cau Muou and Cau Duoc Pumping Stations must supply more than 60,000 m3 of raw water/day. Due to the depletion of water sources in the rivers, the suction lines of the raw water pumps at Cau Muou and Cau Duoc Stations have been renovated, such as connecting an additional 30 cm of pipeline to the suction lines of 4 raw water collection pits at Cau Muou, thereby maximizing the suction capacity of the raw water pumps when the river water level is low".

Cau Muou Pumping Station is the place where raw water is exploited from the source to serve Hung Vinh Water Plant, so the protection of water sources is of great concern to relevant levels and sectors. The unit, together with local authorities in Nam Dan and Hung Nguyen districts, regularly organizes propaganda sessions to encourage people not to litter indiscriminately into the river, to join hands in protecting water sources and to place warning signs at the raw water intake area at Cau Muou...

During the summer months, people's demand for clean water increases and consumes more than 70,000 m3 of clean water per day (while in other seasons, only 50,000 m3 of water per day is consumed). In order to promptly meet customers' water needs in the summer, along with efforts to exploit and ensure raw water sources for the factory's operations, Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited also develops a plan to serve clean water to people, which is to increase the water supply operating time, ensuring 24-hour water supply. Regulate appropriate water supply zones to ensure even water supply in all areas. Organize a department to work on production shifts, receive information, and handle incidents related to the water supply system, including holidays and weekends. Deploying mobile booster pump clusters to increase water pressure for suburban areas far from water plants such as Hung Loc, Hung Dung, Trung Do... investing in installing additional local booster pump stations on Nguyen Duy Trinh - Hung Dung street, and preparing specialized water tankers to supply water to areas with local water shortages.

One of the highly effective activities in management and operation, especially water supply in the summer, is that Nghe An Water Supply One Member Co., Ltd. successfully applied the Scanda management system using high technology with modern computer equipment, helping the unit monitor water pressure on the entire water supply pipeline network, thereby proactively regulating and providing timely water to customers in the area. Great support for timely water supply for customers this summer is the water supply project in the vicinity of Vinh and industrial parks that has been completed and put into operation (in Nam Dan). Currently, with the connection and connection of water from Cau Bach Water Plant (water supply project in the vicinity of Vinh and industrial parks), it has provided 500 - 600 m3 of additional water per day to the Northeast area of ​​Vinh City.

An issue that Nghe An Water Supply Company Limited is very concerned about is monitoring water quality from the source to the customer. Currently, the Company has invested in building a laboratory with modern equipment that can test 15 indicators (criterion A) and monitor and check the quality of water after treatment 24/24 hours. At the same time, it coordinates with the Provincial Center for Preventive Medicine to regularly take water samples for testing, thereby managing and adjusting the quality of clean water...

This summer, the unit has paid great attention to ensuring the quality of domestic water and, along with strengthening industrial hygiene such as: flushing the ditch system, gutters, and discharging mud according to regulations, it has also adjusted to increase preliminary chlorination before bringing raw water into treatment (to increase safety in disinfection, treatment of organic compounds, odors, etc.). Also to ensure the quality of clean water, recently at Hung Vinh Water Plant, they have boldly introduced PAC water treatment chemicals to replace traditional alum, with this method the cost is high, but it ensures the stability of clean water quality for people.

In order to facilitate investment projects according to the province's investment promotion and attraction policy, Nghe An Water Supply One Member Co., Ltd. has recently signed a contract in principle to use raw water sources invested by Tuan Loc Construction Joint Stock Company in a raw water system that takes water directly from Lam River in 2016. Thus, with a stable and high-quality raw water supply, it will greatly support the unit in performing well the task of providing clean water to the people of Vinh City and neighboring areas.
