(Baonghean) - In 1979, Cao Son Medical Station was established in the mountainous area of Hamlet 4, Cao Son Commune. Located in the mountainous area, more than 10km away from the center. Talking with Ms. Nguyen Thi Dan - Head of Cao Son Commune Health Station, it is known that: With the attention of the District Health Center, the staff of the Station have tried to promote the spirit of learning and improve their professional qualifications. Every year, every 2 weeks/class, the staff of the Station are trained in medical examination and treatment skills, acupuncture, professional management, oriental medicine, reproductive health care... Once a month, the Station coordinates with the Commune People's Committee to implement reproductive health care and family planning for women aged 15 - 49. In particular, preschool children under 5 years old are given periodic health check-ups twice a year. Currently, the whole Station has 6 staff members and 1 reinforced doctor.
In addition to improving the skills of the staff and doctors, Cao Son Medical Station also promotes socialization to invest in facilities and equipment for professional services. Especially from 2013 to now, the Station has advised the Commune People's Committee to issue resolutions and plans to mobilize socialized resources to invest hundreds of millions of VND in infrastructure for the Medical Station. Thanks to that, the Station's facilities have basically met the initial medical examination and treatment needs of local people such as 10-parameter urine testing machines, electrocardiogram machines, ultrasound machines, etc. The medical staff of the village are provided with medical bags. The working house has been repaired, maintained, 2 dormitories have roofs, waste treatment pits, wells, etc.
The Health Station has determined that propaganda work to raise people's awareness in medical examination and treatment is a top priority. The Station has coordinated with the Commune Cultural Committee to organize conferences in hamlets to deploy village health plans. At the same time, promote health education communication on the commune loudspeaker system at least 30 times/month, and in villages at least 5 times/month. Coordinate with departments, branches, and mass organizations to communicate and advise integrated into village meetings.

Thanks to the good work of consulting and communicating with the people, the medical examination and treatment work has had many encouraging results: the number of people coming for medical examination reached over 8,500 people, of which the number of people being examined and treated by traditional medicine reached over 2,100 people. Notably, for 5 consecutive years, the epidemic situation in Cao Son has been stable, with no dangerous epidemics occurring in the commune. The vaccination program for children under 1 year old reached 97% of the annual plan. AT2 vaccination for pregnant women reached 108.5% of the annual plan. The rate of protection against neonatal tetanus reached 100%. The rate of women giving birth at the station with health insurance reached 100%. In 2015, Cao Son commune health station was honored to be recognized as meeting national standards in health care phase 2.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Dan - Station Chief said: To achieve that goal, the Station has set specific targets such as: 10/10 villages have medical staff, 98% of children under 1 year old are fully vaccinated, 95% of women have 3 prenatal check-ups/3 pregnancies, 100% of women giving birth at the Station are assisted and cared for by medical staff after giving birth, 100% participate in health insurance. Medical examination and treatment reached 8,500 people. More than 4,000 people were given outpatient medication.
