Efforts to transform 'new style' cooperatives in Con Cuong

Chi Khe Commune Plant and Animal Service Cooperative was established in 2010, currently has a total nursery area of ​​5000m2, total capital of 900 million VND. Over the years, the Cooperative has played a good role as a "midwife" for members in agricultural production services, including: providing varieties of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides; looking for investment partners; coordinating with programs, projects, and specialized agencies to transfer technical processes to the people.

Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Trung - Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of the Chi Khe Commune Plant and Animal Cooperative, Con Cuong said:“The innovation of the new cooperative operation and management model is a condition for cooperatives to promote their role as subjects and legal entities, to develop their potential advantages in land and labor to improve production efficiency. Currently, cooperatives still face many difficulties such as production land funds, unequal competition between some private households..."

Many cooperatives were established in line with the actual economic development conditions of the locality. For example, the Thach Ngan Agricultural Service Cooperative, established in 2015, from the model of raising pigs for meat of over 150 pigs/batch of Mr. Tran Dinh Quoc's family in Dong Thang village, with an income of over 200 million VND/year, many households in Thach Ngan commune have learned and followed suit.

To date, the cooperative has 11 members, including 10 households raising pigs for meat and 2 households raising wild boars. Most households have biogas tanks, with a minimum scale of 50 pigs/batch, and a maximum of 200 pigs/batch.

Ban Diem Bamboo and Rattan Cooperative, Chau Khe commune contributes to restoring and developing the traditional profession of the Thai ethnic group in Con Cuong.

By joining the cooperative, households not only share experiences in raising pigs but also receive a lot of support in quarantine, vaccination, selling pigs and regulating pigs. Due to the location being far from the district center and the difficult roads, traders are reluctant to come to the place to buy pigs for meat. To solve this problem, households often have a schedule to release pigs at the same time and sell them at the same time, so traders no longer hesitate and are willing to come to the place to collect goods.

Mr. Vo Dinh Thanh - Secretary of the Party Committee of Thach Ngan commune said: "To improve the efficiency of cooperative operations, the Party Committee and People's Committee of Thach Ngan commune have had many policies to support, encourage and motivate cooperative operations.

Currently, the commune has allocated about 12 hectares of reserve land to gather and assemble large livestock households in one area, creating favorable conditions for disease control, technology transfer as well as environmental sanitation. Hopefully, this approach will revive the local economy, helping many households escape poverty and become rich.

Mr. Lo Van Thao - Vice Chairman of Con Cuong District People's Committee said: "Currently, Con Cuong has 28 cooperatives, of which 11/14 have been converted according to the 2012 Cooperative Law. To support the conversion of cooperatives, the District People's Committee has issued many support and incentive mechanisms and policies such as: human resource training, trade promotion, market expansion, access to capital, corporate income tax. Support for infrastructure development, land allocation, land lease, application of science and technology... for cooperatives and cooperative unions operating in the fields of agriculture - forestry - fishery".
