The efforts of a poet from Nghe An province.
(Read the poetry collection "The Holes" by Nguyen Van Hung, Literature Publishing House - 2013)
(Baonghean.vn) -In his sixth poetry collection, Nguyen Van Hung remains gentle and reserved, resonating with simple emotions, expressing his feelings about both major and minor issues through specific events, landscapes, places, and people, and then generalizing about societal problems.
He demonstrated this right from the beginning of the poetry collection:
Without profusely thanking people,
The earth silently absorbs happiness.
I quietly accepted a small amount.
The joys and sorrows of the midday garden flowers and plants...
(Lunchtime Garden)
He drew inspiration for that poetic theme from even the sound of cicadas on the Truong Son road:
Pushing each other to look up together.
Some of us had tears welling up in our eyes.
There is a Trường Sơn mountain range that is not easily encountered.
Twenty-nine years have passed since liberation.
Is it still like this?
(Overnight stay in A Lưới)
Even the song "Along the wayHe told us once again:"No matter how new it is, I'm still here / No matter how old it is, I won't throw it away / Stories along the way turn my hair white by night..."
Nguyen Van Hung's poetry achieves a high level of meaning beyond words thanks to its profound imagery. Writing about the poet Tran Huu Thung from Nghe An is very difficult, but Nguyen Van Hung has managed to do it:
I inquired about the poem "Visiting the Rice Fields".
He had foresight.
bowed in silence
smile
Books on the bookshelf by the window
The poet's accomplice didn't utter a word.
...
Out there, the Hai Vai cliffs are getting narrower and narrower.
Beside his bed, the mountain-like structure stood defiantly.
Out there, the rice stalks are heavy with grain, they could make your shoes slip off.
The man leaning on his hoe gazed at the person who had faded into the distance...
(Far away)
And even my friend – the painter Hoang Nguyen Ai, who only used the characteristic of "imitating" human and animal sounds, Nguyen Van Hung used that to speak to the world:
Many who strive to become better people are forgotten.
Some people who try to act like dogs get talked about endlessly.
Is it life or art, sir?
(Parody)
Even the articles "With the firefly”, “Royal Tea"It's a small matter, just a small thing, but what's important is life itself."We no longer have time to be kings / We still have enough time to be friends"
I eagerly read the entire collection, not just to offer a few words, but to see that this time Nguyen Van Hung went further, his emotions were deeper, and his imagery and ideas were clearer. In short, it's much more poetic! He doesn't ramble on or elaborate; most poems fit on a single page—short but sufficient, short enough for the reader to ponder for a long time... Although the comparison might be flawed, in Nghe An and Ha Tinh provinces, there are two poets, Le Quoc Han and Nguyen Van Hung, who can be said to be concise yet profound writers, and very poetic.
To conclude this article, I will stop at the article "Nature"Nguyen Van Hung's words immediately draw a parallel to current child education, where even naturalness is being rigidly conformed to established norms, stifling the souls of children. Humans need harmony with others and with nature to progress and develop.
Let things happen naturally.
As it is, as the earth and sky have always been!
Nguyen Van Hung's poetry has also achieved this. It's a harmony between idea, words, and emotion, resulting in profound themes and vivid imagery...
