Tax debt in Nghe An increased by 135 billion VND.
(Baonghean.vn) - Nghe An's tax debt (collectible) is 702,880 million VND (as of August 31, 2018), an increase of 135 billion VND compared to the same period last year.
Some businesses with large debts include: Company 482 (21.973 billion VND), Vietnam-Laos Investment and Economic Cooperation Corporation (19.6 billion VND), Nghe An Bridge and Road Construction Joint Stock Company (19.6 billion VND), and Investment and Construction Company 24 (19.2 billion VND)...
Mr. Vuong Dinh Chinh, Head of the Taxpayer Support and Propaganda Department of the Nghe An Tax Department, stated: The reason for the increase in tax debt is that a portion of taxpayers have not complied well with tax laws and regulations, delaying tax payments, accumulating long-term tax debts, and being penalized by the tax authorities, resulting in increased late payment penalties.

Some loss-making businesses have dissolved themselves, abandoned their production and business addresses, and still owe taxes, failing to re-declare their tax obligations to the tax authorities.
Many tax debts are uncollectible but cannot be written off either, due to the lack of regulations in the policy for handling such cases.

The large proportion of overdue payments remains uncollectible because taxpayers only pay the principal amount and lack the awareness to pay the overdue fees. Meanwhile, enforcement measures such as seizing assets, auctioning seized assets, and collecting money and assets held by other organizations or individuals are facing numerous difficulties.
