According to TASS news agency on November 27, the Office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced that Israel has officially accepted the US-proposed ceasefire plan in Lebanon.

"Tonight, the war cabinet approved the US proposal for a ceasefire in Lebanon. The decision was supported by 10 ministers; one opposed," the Israeli prime minister's office said.

He praised Washington's contribution to the peace process, adding that Israel "reserves the right to respond to any security threat".

According to The Times of Israel, the only person who voted against was Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir. The minister, who is also the leader of the far-right Otzma Yehudit party, had previously criticized the ceasefire with Lebanon, calling it a "historic mistake."

On the night of November 26, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced in a special televised speech that he would submit a ceasefire plan in Lebanon to the war cabinet.

Netanyahu expressed confidence that the military campaign against Hezbollah had set the group back decades in military capabilities. The prime minister said Israeli forces had killed Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrullah and several other leaders, destroying most of its weapons, thousands of fighters and key infrastructure.

According to Mr Netanyahu, Israel will "strictly respect the agreement and respond harshly to any violation". He said the ceasefire will give Israel the opportunity to focus on the Iranian threat, re-arm and rebuild its army, and isolate the remaining Hamas forces in Gaza.
