On May 15th, in the administrative capital of Putrajaya, Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak announced the list of the country's new cabinet.

Mr. Najib is serving his second term as Prime Minister of Malaysia, and Mr. Muhyiddin Yassin remains in his position as Deputy Prime Minister and First Minister of Education.

In addition, Prime Minister Najib also serves as the First Finance Minister, while Ahmad Husni is the Second Finance Minister. Hishammuddin Hussein is tasked with the responsibilities of Defense Minister and Acting Transport Minister.

Other ministers include the Minister of the Prime Minister's Office, Jamil Khir Baharom, and Wahid Omar; the Minister of Home Affairs, Zahid Hamidi; the Minister of International Trade and Industry, Mustapa Mohamed; and the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Resources, Maximus Ongkili...

Malaysia's new cabinet comprises 30 ministers overseeing 24 ministries. Notably, this new cabinet significantly reduces the number of ministers and deputy ministers from the Chinese community, which makes up 25% of Malaysia's population, after the Malaysian Chinese Association (MCA), despite playing a crucial role in the ruling coalition, refused to accept positions in the new cabinet due to its unimpressive results in the recent elections.

In the general election earlier this month, the National Front Alliance (BN) won 133 out of 222 parliamentary seats but failed to regain the majority it had lost in the 2008 election.

The opposition People's Alliance (PR), led by Anwar Ibrahim, disagreed with the election results and launched numerous large-scale protests.

Meanwhile, according to figures released on the same day, Malaysia's economy was assessed as growing sustainably but at a slower pace than the expected 4.1% in the first quarter of this year due to weak manufacturing and obstacles in the mining sector.

Previously, central bank data showed that in the fourth quarter of last year, Southeast Asia's third-largest economy achieved an astonishing growth rate of 6.4%, its best in the past two years.
