(Baonghean.vn) - The two children participated in a drug trafficking case involving 2.4 kg of drugs. Hearing the prosecutor propose the death penalty and life imprisonment, the father stood up, clasped his hands, and begged for his children to have a chance to live.

The two brothers Va Ba Long (29 years old) and Va Ba Xau (25 years old) both live in Nhon Mai commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An province) are the children of Mr. Va Ba Va and his wife. While Long is the 4th child, Xau is the 8th child in a family of 9 siblings. With many children and a difficult life, Mr. Va and his wife still try to send their children to school. Both Long and Xau finished high school, which is the effort of Mr. Va and his wife when many families in the mountainous areas often have their children drop out of school early.

When the children reached adulthood, Mr. Va and his wife prepared cows and chickens to ask for wives for both of them. With their children settled down, it seemed that the couple could reduce their worries and burdens, but Xau's family encountered sadness. In 2018, Xau's wife and children unfortunately died in a traffic accident. Understanding the great pain that his son had to endure, Mr. Va always encouraged Xau.

More than 2 years passed, Xau's pain gradually subsided, and Mr. Va felt a little relieved. But not long after, he and his wife received the bad news that their two sons had been arrested for trafficking a large amount of drugs.pink sheetThat information made Mr. Va and his wife more surprised and hurt.

He also only learned about the incident through the indictment that: on October 11, 2020, Va Ba Long and Va Ba Xau went to Vinh City to meet a man named Tung to discuss the purchase and sale of heroin. Tung ordered 10 pieces of heroin (each containing 30 packages) for 700 million VND. To have drugs to sell to customers, the next day, Long went to the area bordering Laos to buy but could not. Seeing that his brother could not buy the "goods", Xau found another source, ordering 4 pieces of heroin for 92 million VND.

According to the appointment, at 4am on October 17, Xau went to the Vietnam-Laos border area in Tuong Duong district to buy 2.4 kg of opium from a man of unknown origin and address. After buying the drugs, Xau took a bus to Vinh city and informed his brother to go down. Meeting in Vinh city, the two rented a motel and discussed buying and selling drugs.

On the morning of October 18, the two brothers Xâu brought a backpack containing drugs to their friend's rented room in Hung Loc commune, Vinh city, waiting for a customer to receive the goods. At 3:00 p.m. the same day, Xâu went to the old Ba Lan Hospital area to deliver the goods to the customer, but was arrested by the police along with the backpack. At this time, Xâu fought back fiercely, pulled out a sharp knife hidden in his person and stabbed the police force indiscriminately.

Fortunately, the soldiers dodged those stabs. Xau was handcuffed and taken to the police station to assist in the investigation. As for the older brother, after hearing that his younger brother had been arrested, that same evening Va Ba Long went to the police station to surrender, confessing that he and his younger brother had been trafficking opium.

At the trial of the two defendants Va Ba Long and Va Ba Xau for the crime of illegal drug trafficking, the parents and some relatives came to court. Paying close attention to the trial of their two children, the couple wiped away tears many times.

On the witness stand, defendant Xau admitted to buying and selling drugs for profit. Xau admitted that if the deal was successful, the two brothers would pocket more than 300 million VND. Meanwhile, defendant Long only admitted to transporting drugs for 5 million VND. But later, Long admitted to buying and selling opium with his younger brother.

Participating in the proceedings at court, the representative of the People's Procuracy of Nghe An province stated that the behavior of the two defendants was dangerous to society, the volume of trading that the two defendants participated in was especially large, so they proposed that defendant Xau be sentenced to death and defendant Long to life in prison.

Facing death, Xau expressed remorse and asked for a chance to live. The father of the two defendants stood up, clasped his hands and begged: “As parents, everyone wants their children to become good people. We feel partly at fault for our two children trafficking drugs. Please give my children a chance to live.”

The panel of judges determined that in this case, the amount of drugs that the two defendants were involved in buying and selling was exceptionally large, so it needed to be dealt with severely. Considering the role of each defendant in the case, it was found that Va Ba Xau was the ringleader, directly purchasing drugs and selling them to customers. As the mastermind, Va Ba Xau was sentenced to death. As an accomplice, the defendant Va Ba Long was sentenced to life in prison.

The two sons, one sentenced to death and one to life in prison, left Mr. Va and his wife stunned, leaving the court in extreme pain.
