Realizing the great social demand, since 2006, Vocational School No. 1 (now Nghe An College of Technical Economics No. 1) has focused its resources on building the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering to become the school's key faculty, training human resources for auto maintenance and repair. The ultimate goal is that after graduation, students can work or start a business by opening a private auto repair and maintenance workshop right in their hometown.

However, the profession of car maintenance and repair is a special profession, requiring very high technical skills, so in addition to the teaching and guidance of teachers, students must be truly inquisitive and love the profession. Currently, most car models are equipped with modern mechanical, electrical, electronic and refrigeration systems, so the workers in the workshop must have both a degree in mechanical power, but at the same time must have a solid level of electricity, electronics and refrigeration to ensure the repair and completion of a car. Although the cost of opening a workshop is not large, to create prestige and brand to attract customers is a process, especially the skill level of the worker.

Grasping this trend, many rural youths after leaving high school, instead of choosing the path to university, they have shown their determination by enrolling in auto repair training. The fact that the facility has many vehicles for repair is an opportunity for the school's students to both learn the basics at school and get acquainted with new types of engines with their teachers. They are introduced to everything from small errors to difficult, diverse failures in practice. From here, many students learn how to build models and manage workshops, and the process of checking, maintaining, and repairing cars.

Mr. Nguyen Van Viet, a former student of the school, currently the owner of a workshop in Hamlet 12, Xuan Hoa, Nam Dan said: Opening my own auto repair shop has been my dream since I was a child. To achieve the results I have today, I have to study hard, practice, accumulate professional experience from teachers and especially have a passion for the job.
