Dallol Town in Afar Depression, Ethiopia, holds the record for the highest average annual temperature. From 1960 to 1966, Dallol's average annual temperature was 34.5 degrees Celsius, meaning that temperatures remained virtually constant throughout the year. Daytime highs were consistently above 38 degrees Celsius in all months. Dallol is located in an active volcanic region.
