Where in the US do election results come in first?
To become one of the places that announce election results the earliest in the US, voters in a village in New Hampshire state often line up to vote from midnight.
Tomorrow (November 8), more than 120 million American voters will go to the polls to elect the 45th President of the United States. Polling stations in 50 states and the capital Washington DC will open from 6-7am and close at 7-8pm, while in Iowa and North Dakota, voting will last until 9pm.

Because of its large area and spread across many different time zones, the time of announcement of election results in US states is also different.
The village of Dixville Notch (New Hampshire state), about 40km from the Canadian border, is expected to become one of the first places to announce the results of the US presidential election, usually 24 hours earlier than other localities.
The village has a tradition of going to the polls at midnight. Hours before most polls officially open, voters in Dixville Notch gather in a ski resort ballroom. Once everyone has cast their ballots, sometimes just a minute later, the results are announced.
Dixville Notch is competing with other villages and towns in New Hampshire, including Hart's Location, to be the first place to report results in this year's presidential election.
