Anxiety before the congress...

(Baonghean) - 2015 is the year of Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 12th National Congress of the Party. How do you feel about this momentous event?

- My mindset, like that of most people, is geared towards the Party Congress with all my faith and hope.

- That is the general sentiment of the people towards the Party, while cadres and Party members must recognize their responsibility in the face of this event.

- Of course. But each cadre and party member has a different situation, and before the party congresses at all levels and before the Party Congress, I see that they have many concerns.

- What are your feelings?

- Cadres who are no longer eligible to serve on the Party committee tend to focus on ensuring a safe "landing" (retirement), paying little attention to crucial issues, especially personnel matters. Young cadres about to join the Party committee are nervous, waiting and listening, hesitant to express their opinions. Cadres who have served one term on the Party committee and are certain they will continue in the next term are full of confidence and ready to express their opinions; however, some are "hindered" by various issues and feel anxious. Ordinary Party members, on the other hand, only hope that the Party Congress will select the right people with virtue and talent to lead the country's development.

- As you said, on the eve of the Party congresses at all levels, officials only think about matters related to themselves, paying little attention to the common tasks of the Party organization.

- That's not entirely true, because to effectively address the common problems of the Party organization, we must first address the issues related to each individual Party member. As Party members, no one should only think of themselves and forget their responsibility to the Party. As a Party organization, we cannot expect Party members to disregard their own political interests. Therefore, it is normal for cadres and Party members to have personal concerns on the eve of Party congresses at all levels. The key is to overcome those personal concerns and fulfill our responsibilities to the Party.
