A young man was stabbed to death for swearing too much at a party.

During the party, Minh cursed a lot so Ky ran home and got a knife to stab Minh twice, causing the victim to die on the way to the emergency room.

On September 29, 2017, the High People's Court in Hanoi opened an appeal trial for defendant Nguyen Dinh Ky (21 years old, residing in Thach Loi village, Thanh Tan commune, Thach Thanh district, Thanh Hoa) on the charge of murder.

According to the indictment of the People's Procuracy of Thanh Hoa province, at about 5:00 p.m. on January 16, 2016, Mr. Do Van Minh (born in 1998, residing in Chinh Thanh village, Thanh Truc commune) rode a motorbike to attend a wedding organized by Mr. Do Van Hung's family, Thach Loi village, Thanh Tan commune.

During the wedding feast, Mr. Do Van Minh went to Nguyen Dinh Ky's table to toast and cursed, so a group of young men sitting at the same table, including Hoang, Tinh, Tam, and Vu, forced Mr. Minh to drink more wine.

Because of drinking too much alcohol, Minh and the young men above had a conflict. After that, Minh continued to sit in the theater drinking while the group of young men including Ky, Hoang, Tinh, Tam, and Vu went outside.

Angry about Minh's foul language, Nguyen Dinh Ky went home (about 500m away) to put on a warm coat and took a switchblade (about 15cm long) put it in his pocket and returned to the wedding. Ky went to the gate of the theater and called Minh out. When Minh went out, he talked on the phone for quite a while.

At that moment, Hoang, a groupmate of Ky, walked over to Minh, picked up a 50cm long piece of sugarcane he was eating and hit Minh on the right shoulder. Because he was drunk and angry at Minh's attitude, Ky, who was standing nearby, pulled out a knife from his warm coat pocket and swung his left hand to stab Minh twice in the stomach, causing Minh to collapse on the spot and die on the way to the emergency room.

After committing the crime, Ky threw the knife down his shirt and fled the scene. With the encouragement of the local authorities and his family, on the morning of January 17, 2016, Nguyen Dinh Ky went to the Thach Thanh District Police Station to surrender and report his crime.

On June 30, 2016, in Thanh Tan commune, Thach Thanh district, the People's Court of Thanh Hoa province opened a mobile trial of the murder case against defendant Nguyen Dinh Ky and sentenced Nguyen Dinh Ky to life in prison for murder. At the same time, he was ordered to compensate the victim's family with 92 million VND for funeral expenses.

After the first instance trial, Ky appealed for a reduction in his sentence. However, at the appeal hearing, the panel of judges found that the defendant’s actions were hooligan, aggressive, and disregarded the law, and that there was no new evidence to mitigate his crime, so they upheld the first instance sentence./.
