(Baonghean.vn) - Today (March 3), the “Super Tuesday” election will take place in the US. This is an important traditional day with 15 US states and territories holding elections in the form of caucuses or ballots.

The states holding elections today include: California, Texas, Virginia, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Minnesota, Vermont, Colorado, Utah, North Carolina and Maine, as well as the territory of American Samoa.

Just before the election, two candidates, Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar and candidate Pete Buttigieg - Former Mayor of South Bend, Indiana, announced their withdrawal from the race and supported former Vice President Joe Biden. CNN commented that the announcement of these two candidates to leave the race the day before the "Super Tuesday" election is considered a good opportunity for Mr. Biden to overcome Senator Bernie Sanders in today's competition.

According to USA Today, there are currently 5 candidates in the race: former Vice President Joe Biden, billionaire Bloomberg, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, Senator Bernie Sanders and Senator Elizabeth Warren. Accordingly, about 1/3 of the necessary delegates will be determined after this "Super Tuesday", because today there are 1,357 delegates participating in the vote.

And that, if any candidate secures at least 1,991 votes out of a total of 3,979 votes before the Democratic National Convention takes place on July 13, that candidate will become the party's final choice. This is the reason billionaire Bloomberg bet on "Super Tuesday" and ignored the states of Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina last week.

Analyzing the strengths of the candidates, Reuters said that Mr. Joe Biden, with his victory in South Carolina, will have the momentum to win in states with many African-American voters such as Iowa or New Hampshire today. However, according to CNN, Mr. Biden still faces a challenge from billionaire Michael Bloomberg, when many American voters are hoping that the Democratic Party will nominate a moderate.
