(Baonghean.vn) - On this 1 hectare area, 3 years ago it was sugarcane land. After the commune's policy of converting crops, Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh, born in 1990 in hamlet 3, Nghia Hung commune (Nghia Dan) was the first household to boldly introduce the orange tree for experimental planting.

Mr. Vinh said that through radio and newspapers, he learned that in Bac Giang province, there are many households growing tangerines, earning billions of dong. To witness it with his own eyes, he spent a lot of time and effort in Luc Ngan, Bac Giang to learn about the process of caring for this variety of tree. Thanks to his diligence in learning and applying science and technology to care for the first orange crop, although the weather was not favorable, from the beginning of the season, his family took the initiative to take care of the oranges and find ways to delay the ripening of the oranges so that they could be sold in time for the Lunar New Year.

With more than 200 tangerine trees bearing fruit, each tree produces an average of 30-70 kg of fruit. With the current garden price of 25,000 VND/kg, this tangerine crop the family also earned nearly 200 million VND.

Sharing his experience in growing tangerines, Mr. Nguyen Van Vinh said: Tangerines are a difficult fruit tree, so growers must take great care of them and apply strict care procedures. The most important factor for the tree to flower is that gardeners must closely monitor and follow weather forecasts. Before preparing for severe cold weather, it is necessary to partially destroy the roots and girdle the base of the orange tree. When the tree bears young fruit, it is necessary to girdle and turn the base again to preserve the fruit. For strong trees, the tree should be trimmed for a few days and then wrapped again, while for weak trees, it must be trimmed more finely...

Not only paying attention to the care of the orange garden to make it delicious and beautiful, bringing consumers the most satisfactory fruit bunches during Tet, Mr. Vinh is also known as a very quick-witted person in economic development. Grasping the psychology as well as the need to play ornamental specialty trees such as oranges and grapefruits during Tet, so this year, Mr. Vinh has rented more land to plant 200 ornamental orange trees for Tet with an average selling price of 1.5-4 million VND/tree, depending on the size, beautiful shape, and many or few fruits.
