Do Luong farmers earn millions from wild pennywort
(Baonghean.vn) - After the cajuput harvest season, people in Boi Son commune, Do Luong (Nghe An) took the opportunity to pick wild pennywort. Many people were excited to earn millions of dong from this easy-to-find wild vegetable.
Coming to Hamlet 1, Boi Son Commune, in the newly planted Melaleuca forests, many people with knives and sickles are taking advantage of the opportunity to pick wild pennywort. After each Melaleuca harvest, people here often burn leaves and dry branches to get humus to fertilize the seedlings. The moist humus soil is suitable for the growth of wild pennywort, so many forests of Melaleuca and pennywort grow lush and green.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, a resident of Hamlet 1, Boi Son Commune, shared, “Every morning I wake up early to go to the forest to pick fresh pennywort to sell to customers. This is a clean and rare vegetable, so many people buy it. Every day I pick 7-10 kg of fresh pennywort. Currently, pennywort costs from 30,000 - 40,000 VND/kg. Every day, Ms. Hien earns 300,000 - 400,000 VND, from the beginning of the season until now she has earned about 4.5 million VND.
