(Baonghean.vn) - The model of processing straw into organic microbial fertilizer is gradually creating smokeless fields, returning organic resources, increasing soil fertility, and minimizing environmental pollution.

These days, it is the "peak farming season" time, people are both harvesting rice and preparing the land for the summer-autumn crop. Despite the stressful seasonal pressure, farmers in Thuong Tan Loc commune (Nam Dan) still collect straw and stubble to make organic fertilizer. Photo: TP

Ms. Phan Thi Trang - President of the Farmers' Association of Thuong Tan Loc commune said: "This is the second year that Thuong Tan Loc farmers have applied the model of processing straw into organic microbial fertilizer right at the field. This crop, the commune was supported with 200kg of yeast and other preparations to process about 40ha of straw into fertilizer for the fields. In addition to the households supported with the preparations, many other households, seeing the effectiveness, have also boldly bought the ingredients to compost." Photo: TP

In the previous crop, households composted dozens of tons of manure to fertilize rice, vegetables, melons and fruit trees. The results showed that the fields fertilized with microbial fertilizer processed from straw and rice husks were loose, humus-rich, the rice roots developed well and yielded higher yields. Photo: TP

In addition to Thuong Tan Loc commune, this spring crop, Nam Dan has 4 other localities that are also implementing the treatment of straw into bio-fertilizer with the target of about 1,000 tons. Mr. Ho Dinh Thang - Chairman of the Farmers' Association of Nam Dan district said: "Through this model, we will gradually create smokeless fields, restore organic resources, increase soil fertility, and reduce environmental pollution." In addition to straw, by-products such as corn stalks, peanuts, green manure plants, etc. are also composted by farmers. Photo: TP

According to the Project "Propaganda, mobilization, and guidance for farmers to produce microbial organic fertilizers from agricultural by-products and waste in Nghe An province in the period of 2023 - 2025", in 2024, the whole province will have 1,005 establishments that have built models of producing organic fertilizers from agricultural by-products and waste, aiming to achieve the goal of at least 70% of farmer households organizing the production of microbial organic fertilizers from crop by-products, waste, and agricultural by-products. In addition, local farmers are now also using the product to treat stubble, turning it into humus to add porosity to the soil. Photo: TP
