(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, the cold weather has been detrimental to the growth and development of aquaculture. To proactively respond to the adverse weather conditions, aquaculture households have actively implemented many measures to protect aquaculture products from the cold.
During the days of sharp temperature drops, shrimp farmers in Quynh Luu district, Hoang Mai town have to stay in ponds and lakes to monitor the health of the shrimp, adjust the care regime, and prevent diseases. Aeration and water change are also taken care of to ensure shrimp development when the temperature drops". Particularly for fish raised in cages, a substrate was also created for the fish to shelter from the cold; a frame was made and the pond surface was covered with light-colored nylon. According to recommendations, during cold weather, absolutely do not pull nets to check, do not harvest by thinning to limit scratches to reduce the possibility of disease and damage to farmed aquatic products.
Farmers need to maintain the water level in the pond to stabilize the water temperature, ensuring a depth of 1.5 - 2m; make a frame and cover the pond surface with light-colored plastic or spread water hyacinth on the pond surface from 1/2 - 2/3 of the pond surface area to block the wind; move the cage to a place with less wind, or lower the cage depth to 1.8 - 2.0m.
Farmers must feed their aquatic animals adequately, use high-quality feed, appropriate rations and supplement vitamins to increase resistance.
