Nghe An farmers join hands to raise 1,104 dairy cows

(Baonghean.vn) - Currently, Nghe An farmers are linking with businesses.raising 1,104 dairy cows to provide raw materialsmilkfor the company.

Ms. Le Thi Luong's family in Hamlet 3, Nghia Hop Commune, Tan Ky District has been raising dairy cows since 2014. She said: Initially, the family invested 240 million VND to buy 4 mature dairy cows, along with building a barn for about 200 million VND.

After 3 years of caring for her family's dairy cows, they have multiplied to 7 cows, and have also sold some breeding cows to local people. Currently, Ms. Luong's dairy farm milks over 100 kg of milk per day, which is imported to Vinamilk Dairy Company, earning over 1 million VND per day.

It is known that in Tan Ky district, there are currently nearly 10 farming households associated with Vinamilk Dairy Company to raise dairy cows, bringing high and stable economic efficiency.

According to the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine, by linking farmers to build infrastructure, barns, proactively source food and labor, Vinamilk Nghe An Dairy Company provides breeding animals; guides on breeding techniques; and purchases raw milk products, creating opportunities for many farmers to have jobs and increase their income.

After 7 years of cooperation between farmers and Vinamilk Dairy Company, up to now, there are 108 households raising dairy cows in the province, with a total herd of 1,104 cows, of which more than 530 are milk cows, with a scale of 5-50 cows/household.

Thanks to the close connection in the process of raising cows, milk productivity is stable, averaging 25 - 30 kg of milk/cow/day, an average of 5 - 5.5 tons of milk/cow/year. With the selling price of milk to Vinamilk Dairy Company of 10,000 - 14,000 VND/kg, it brings high and stable income to farmers.

This is a new form of thinking in livestock farming, applying scientific and technological advances to bring high economic efficiency to livestock farmers. Currently, many farmers in Nghia Dan, Tan Ky districts, Thai Hoa town, Quynh Luu... are approaching this quite sustainable way of doing business./.
