Present at the acacia forest in Chau Hoi commune, districtQuy ChauSeeing the scene of harvesting acacia has become quite bustling again. Mr. Tran Quang, an acacia farmer in Chau Hoi commune, shared: For nearly a year, the price of acacia has been too cheap, only 750,000-800,000 VND/ton, so the family did not want to cut it down and sell it; for about 2 weeks now, the price of acacia has increased to over 1.1 million VND/ton, acacia growers have made a profit, my family is harvesting 2.5 hectares of acacia to replant.

A trader specializing in buying acacia in Chau Hoi commune said: Because acacia wood processing factories have resumed operations, acacia prices have increased. We buy from people's forests at 1.14 million VND/ton and sell at wood processing factories at 1.42 million VND/ton. Every day, our facility buys 50-60 tons of acacia.

Quy Chau district has the largest area of acacia in the province, with over 21,000 hectares of raw acacia, of which over 4,000 hectares are exploited annually. The increase in acacia prices not only helps farmers make a profit from growing acacia but also creates jobs for thousands of local workers who have been unemployed for a long time in the profession of carrying and peeling acacia bark.

In Thanh Chuong district, Mr. Nguyen Vinh in hamlet 3, Hanh Lam commune, Thanh Chuong district, just finished harvesting 5 hectares of acacia and added: For nearly a month now, acacia prices have increased, buying at the garden for nearly 1.2 million VND/ton, averaging 90-100 million VND/ha, after deducting costs, acacia growers still make a profit of 60-70 million VND/ha.

Mr. Dang Huu Hanh - Chairman of Hanh Lam Commune People's Committee said: Hanh Lam is a border commune, acacia has long been a tree to eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, improving people's lives. Currently, the whole commune has 2,400 hectares of acacia, annually harvesting 300-500 hectares of acacia, if the price of acacia increases from 1-1.1 million VND/ha, acacia growers will make a profit. However, we only hope that the price of acacia will remain stable, because if the price fluctuates, it will affect people's lives.

According to Thanh Chuong Pellet Factory, the factory maintains a large purchase volume of 800-1,000 tons of acacia per day for the raw material area. Unlike other places, this factory purchases the whole tree, including the trunk and top, without peeling the bark, which is beneficial for acacia growers.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture of Thanh Chuong district, the whole district has nearly 20,000 hectares of acacia mainly concentrated in communes along the Ho Chi Minh trail such as Hanh Lam, Thanh Duc, Thanh Huong... Every year, the district exploits 2,500-3,000 hectares of acacia, mainly sold to traders in the district and Thanh Chuong pellet factory. Farmers are excited about the increase in acacia prices, however, the district is in dire need of businesses to sign long-term purchasing contracts so that farmers can feel secure in production.

Nghe An currently has nearly 170,000 hectares of raw acacia forests, exploiting over 55,000 hectares annually. Many acacia wood processing factories in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa have signed orders, pushing up acacia prices. This is a good sign for farmers, contributing to stimulating the movement of planting production forests in Nghe An district in the coming time./.
