(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, severe heat has occurred in many localities in the province, with temperatures sometimes reaching 40, 41 degrees Celsius. To cope with the harsh weather and ensure uninterrupted production, farmers in the hot, windy areas have found many ways to adapt: Harvesting crops from 3-4am, working at night with lights on, setting up tarps in the middle of the fields to block the sun...

With an orchard of more than 2 hectares, growing various types of fruit trees such as red-fleshed dragon fruit, guava, American figs, grapefruit, PQ tangerines, etc., on extremely hot days, Mr. Vo Trong Phuc in Dien Phu commune (Dien Chau) has to wake up at 4am to water the trees. Mr. Phuc said: "Watering at this time, the weather is still cool, the trees are not shocked by the heat and the water penetrates the soil better. In addition, the weather is cool so watering is less difficult." Photo: Thanh Phuc
It is the peak harvest season of morning glory flowers, so people in Nam Anh and Nam Xuan communes (Nam Dan) have to wake up at 4am, wearing flashlights to pick flowers for traders. At around 7am, when the sun is just rising, the harvest ends. Photo: Thanh Phuc
During the hottest days, banana farmers in Thuan Son commune (Do Luong) still actively stick to their gardens, harvesting bananas when they are ready and taking care of them. To avoid the sun, they proactively arrange a different schedule than usual. That is, cutting bananas and transporting them to the warehouse in the early morning; the work of spraying bunches, fertilizing, weeding, etc. is moved to the late afternoon. "Cutting bananas in the hot sun will affect the color and quality of the fruit. When the sun comes, cutting and carrying bunches of bananas weighing more than 10 kg onto the truck is also more tiring. Therefore, we change our work schedule to adapt to the daily weather conditions," said a local resident. Photo: Thanh Phuc
Farmers in Quynh Luong, Quynh Bang, Quynh Minh communes... (Quynh Luu) use lamps to harvest onions at night to avoid the heat. Photo: Thanh Phuc
There are days when orders are urgent and a large quantity of goods are needed to supply the market, so people have to "stand in the sun" to pick and process onions all afternoon. The solution to cope with extreme weather conditions is to set up canvas roofs to provide shade and quiet work. Photo: Thanh Phuc
Many types of vegetables after being harvested are dipped in water and wrapped in fresh banana leaves to keep them fresh and green when they reach customers. Photo: Thanh Phuc
