Up to this point, sugarcane growers in Quy Chau have harvested about 10% of the area, with an average yield of 56.4 tons/ha, and an expected sugarcane output of 79,383 tons. Currently, each ton of sugarcane is purchased by the factory at a price of 880,000 VND. Although it has decreased compared to last year, this price is considered acceptable for the people.
Realizing the productivity and economic value that sugarcane brings, many households have converted highland, water-deficient fields to grow sugarcane with very high productivity, in the first seasons it can reach 80-100 tons/ha.
According to households that have converted to growing sugarcane, the economic value of sugarcane is 8 times higher than that of rice. If 1 hectare of rice field only yields 8-10 million VND after producing wet rice, then growing sugarcane gives an income of 70-80 million VND per hectare.
