Farmers in Kochi Prefecture, Japan, have researched and created a type of chicken egg that tastes like yuzu, a popular citrus fruit.

According to Rocketnews24, yuzu is larger than a lemon and has a flavor that combines grapefruit and tangerine. This fruit is favored by the Japanese and widely used in food preparation.

These special eggs, called "yuzu tama," contain absolutely no chemical additives or flavorings. They are created by feeding chickens large amounts of yuzu peel along with kale, non-GMO corn, and sesame seeds.

Outwardly, these eggs look just like other common ones. However, even before cracking them open, one can smell a subtle citrus aroma. When eaten, the fresh, invigorating scent of yuma fruit spreads in the mouth, providing a refreshing sensation.

A box of six "yuzu tama" eggs costs around $3-4 USD. These eggs are widely sold in Kochi and a few stores in Tokyo.
