(Baonghean.vn) - Orange growers in Quy Hop, Nghia Dan (Nghe An) are helpless in the face of yellow leaves, worms, and fruit falling all over the ground...

Walking along the roads leading to the orange area of Minh Hop commune, Quy Hop district, it is easy to see orange gardens with stunted trees due to pests and diseases. As a result, the oranges are of poor quality (locally called "ngo" oranges), young fruit falls off, even leaves fall all over the roots... these are worrying signs in many orange gardens in Quy Hop district.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Cong's family, team 12, Xuan Thanh Farm Company Limited has 1.5 hectares of oranges for business. Mr. Cong is worried that although the family invests heavily in care, most of the trees are infected with pests, most obviously the leaves are curled up and fall off. Every year, the family buys pesticides to spray but it does not reduce the disease. However, Mr. Hung himself does not know what disease the orange trees have.

The wish of orange growers is that specialized agencies promptly identify diseases of orange trees and provide specific drugs to spray, otherwise orange growers will fail.

According to Mr. Hoang Minh - Xuan Thanh Agricultural Company Limited: Currently, more than half of the company's 1,000 hectares of oranges are infected with disease. The reason why many orange areas in Quy Hop are infected with disease is due to poor quality seedlings and degraded soil due to people's long-term use of uncertified fertilizers and pesticides.

To improve the quality of orange gardens, according to Mr. Hoang Minh, it is necessary to boldly eliminate infected orange gardens to treat and renovate them, by producing short-term crops for 2-3 years, then return to growing oranges.

In recent years, Nghia Dan 1/5 LLC has been converted by people from growing rubber trees to growing oranges with an area of 54 hectares.

Mr. Nguyen Tuan Cuong - Director of the company is concerned: Most of the company's orange acreage is 1 - 3 years old, but many orange acreages have appeared pests and diseases, affecting the development of the orange trees. He is worried that in the future, people will destroy the orange trees to plant other trees.

According to Mr. Cuong, the cause of orange tree disease may be due to poor quality of orange seedlings. In addition, orange growers do not have much experience in pest control.
