Quynh Luu farmers re-produce vegetables after the flood
(Baonghean.vn) - The recent floods have submerged hundreds of hectares of vegetables in the coastal areas. Taking advantage of the sunny weather, people have rushed to the fields to overcome the consequences and prepare the land to continue planting the new vegetable crop.

The heavy rain combined with floodwaters flooded the entire area of scallion and vegetables of all kinds. According to vegetable growers in Quynh Luu, in the past 2 months, due to storms and floods, people have suffered great losses; on average, 1 sao of scallion lost 10 million VND.
According to statistics from the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district, the whole district has about 1,900 hectares of vegetable area. About more than 200 hectares of vegetables were damaged, of which Quynh Bang has 40 hectares, Quynh Minh has 30 hectares, Quynh Luong has 60 hectares; the rest are scattered in some mountainous communes such as Tan Son, Quynh Tam..., estimated damage is nearly 20 billion VND.
After the flood receded and the weather was sunny, people in the coastal areas gathered in the fields to overcome the consequences of the flood and prepare the land to plant a new crop of vegetables.
People go to the fields to plow the land, make higher ridges, and clear the drainage system in the fields to drain water quickly during prolonged rains and floods, while also preparing the land for planting the new crop.

Mr. Dau Duc Nam - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Quynh Luu district said that in order to promptly overcome the consequences caused by natural disasters, the district is propagating to the people to quickly stabilize production and enter the new vegetable crop. At the same time, directing agricultural cooperatives to have plans to dredge canals and clear the flow in vegetable fields; reviewing the entire area of vegetables damaged by floods to have support policies for farmers.
