(Baonghean.vn) - According to the plan for the 2016 Autumn-Spring crop, Tan Ky planted 4,680 hectares, but due to prolonged drought, only nearly 3,400 hectares were planted and 120 large and small dams in the area were mostly at dead water level.

The rains at the end of July saved thousands of hectares of crops in Tan Ky district, which were starting to dry up. Immediately after the rains, farmers in the district quickly went to the fields to weed, prune, and fertilize nearly 3,400 hectares of winter-spring rice that were in the tillering stage.

People take advantage of the opportunity to weed, aerate, and take care of the rice.

Mrs. Tran Thi Nhung in Hamlet 2, Dien Nam, Ky Tan Commune, Tan Ky District happily said: "The rain has come, the rice fields have water, we go to the fields to take care of the rice. I am very happy because yesterday's rain saved my family's 3 sao of rice and many other rice and crop areas of the people in the district."

People are excited to close the rice area that has been waiting for water for a long time.

For an area of over 1,200 hectares that has not been able to plant crops due to lack of water in the past, people are now urgently preparing the land and planting. Mr. Nguyen Van Phuong in Phuong Ky 1 hamlet, Ky Son commune excitedly said: "For a long time, we have been worried that we might have to abandon our fields. Now that there is water, we have been out in the fields since 4-5 am to prepare the land for planting. Many households have not been able to plant seedlings in the past, so they prepare the land and sow directly."

The atmosphere is tense working in the fields.

Mr. Nguyen Ba Thuc - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Tan Ky district said: The thunderstorms in the past few days have improved the drought situation in the district. The industry recommends that farmers focus on building embankments to retain water, fertilize, and trim to promote the growth and development of rice plants.

For areas with high density of the fifth generation of leaf rollers, special pesticides are still being sprayed. For areas that have not been able to plant due to lack of water, but now there is rain and water, and the seedlings are not too old, they can continue to be planted.

However, despite the rain, the water level of 120 reservoirs in the district has not improved much. If the dry weather continues in the coming days, it will be difficult to provide water to care for crops throughout the season./.
