Farmers 'win' tea bud crop after rain
(Baonghean.vn) - Consecutive rains last weekhas helped hundreds of hectares of tea in Anh Son grow well. At this time,Farmers are concentrating on harvesting; tea bud productivity is high (over 13 tons/ha).
Two months ago, Mr. Nguyen Duc Phi's family (Hamlet 9, Long Son) had no tea to harvest due to the dry weather that prevented the tea from growing. Thanks to the recent rains, his family's tea hills are now very green and have many buds.
Mr. Phi excitedly said: My family grows 2 hectares, each time the family harvests over 4 tons of fresh tea buds. But this autumn tea bud crop, thanks to favorable weather, is expected to yield higher than previous crops; earning nearly 10 million VND/month.

Long Son is one of the key tea-growing communes in Anh Son district. Currently, the whole commune has nearly 300 hectares of industrial tea. These days, on the tea hills, local people are focusing on harvesting the autumn tea crop after the rain.
In recent years, Long Son commune has focused on developing tea trees according to VietGAP procedures. The locality has coordinated with Anh Son Tea Enterprise to open training courses and transfer science and technology. Thanks to that, the productivity and quality of tea trees in Long Son have been increasingly improved. Promoting that result, the commune has a policy to plant 20 hectares of new tea each year according to the VietGAP model.

The entire Anh Son district currently has over 2,500 hectares of raw tea, of which 1,700 hectares have been harvested; concentrated in communes such as: Hung Son, Long Son, Dinh Son and Cam Son.

With the current favorable weather, local farmers can harvest a batch of tea every month, with an average yield of 13 tons/ha. After harvesting, companies and production facilities come to the site to purchase the tea at prices ranging from 30,000 to 33,000 VND/kg.
Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dang - Head of the Agriculture Department of Anh Son district said: Currently, in Anh Son district, there are 3 tea enterprises purchasing raw tea, namely Anh Son tea enterprise, Bai Phu tea enterprise, Hung Son tea enterprise with a capacity of 90 tons/day. In addition, there are 13 tea processing facilities in households. Product output is quite favorable, so in recent times, Anh Son farmers have been confident in focusing on investing in developing industrial tea trees.
