(Baonghean.vn) - By applying technology, farmers in Quynh Luu (Nghe An) have used duckweed to compost into bio-fertilizer. The model helps farmers minimize the use of inorganic fertilizers such as nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, etc., contributing to protecting the local environment.

The family of Mr. Tran Ngoc Chung in Block 9, Cau Giat town is the third household in Quynh Luu district to receive technical assistance and capital support from the district's Agricultural and Fisheries Extension Center to build a model using duckweed to process and compost into bio-fertilizer.

During the process, Mr. Chung said: Water hyacinth is easy to find, combined with some manure and microorganisms to make compost. This time, the family prepared 6 tons of water hyacinth and 4 tons of manure. The water hyacinth is cut into pieces, mixed in a ratio of 2 parts water hyacinth and 1 part manure. Then, use microorganisms mixed with water and sprayed evenly on the surface. When the composting of this type of fertilizer is completed, use a tarp to cover the compost to create a high temperature for the above ingredients to decompose quickly. After 25 - 30 days, it will produce 4 - 4.5 tons of microorganisms, used to fertilize plants.

Faced with the reality that most farmers use chemical fertilizers over time, which will gradually make the soil infertile, using organic fertilizers will ensure better soil regeneration. Furthermore, it is found that water hyacinth in canals and ditches is quite large, causing blockages in the flow, affecting agricultural production. Therefore, encouraging farmers to scoop water hyacinth not only contributes to clearing canals but also creates a source of organic fertilizer, increasing humus and soil fertility.

Mr. Nguyen Anh Hung - Head of the Quynh Luu District Agricultural Extension Station said: "On that basis, we want to create a cleaner organic fertilizer for crops. By using a preparation, useful microorganisms BIO - F, this bacteria strain has the effect of quickly decomposing cellulose lines, organic substances to become high-grade fertilizer, used to fertilize crops, especially fertilizing high-grade crops such as flowers, vegetables, and high-value fruit trees".

Water hyacinth is abundant in canals in many localities. This is an abundant source of raw materials for making biofertilizer.

The composting model is an important direction for agriculture, because it not only increases the productivity of crops but also contributes to ensuring the environment. This method is being encouraged by the government to be replicated in localities.
