With the hope of reaping many victories, after the joyful days of celebrating Tet, farmers went to the fields with high spirits.

Ms. Dang Thi Hong, Xuan Phuc hamlet, Nghi Xuan commune, said that this spring crop, her family produced 3 sao of rice. With the direction of the agricultural extension board, on the morning of the 4th of Tet, her family focused on the fields to produce, with the hope of a bumper crop.

To ensure timely planting, sufficient area, contributing to helping farmers improve crop efficiency, on the 4th day of Tet, officers and employees of Nghi Loc Irrigation Enterprise went out to serve production, operating electric pumps, self-flowing works determined to ensure enough water for farmers to sow. Mr. Ngo Ngoc Hoan, Director of Nghi Loc Irrigation Enterprise said: "In order to create the best conditions for farmers in production, right from the beginning of the season, Irrigation Enterprise has focused on maintaining machinery, dredging canals, assigning officers to be on duty regularly during Tet, allocating irrigation water reasonably, economically and effectively"

In the 2016-2017 winter-spring crop, Nghi Loc district strives to produce 7,500 hectares of rice. Of which, hybrid rice is 1,500 hectares; high-quality pure rice is 5,500 hectares. To strive for a successful spring crop, right from the beginning of the crop, the district People's Committee has directed communes and towns to do a good job of managing irrigation works to provide enough irrigation water for production. At the same time, provide enough seeds and agricultural materials to ensure quality for farmers.

New in this year's winter-spring crop, the District People's Committee also has a mechanism to support 20,000 VND/kg of nylon for farmers to make spring rice cover, and support biological residue to kill rats. Particularly for the communes of Nghi Cong Nam, Nghi Yen, Nghi Tien, Nghi Quang and Nghi Thiet, due to the specific drought and salinity in the area, they cannot produce summer-autumn-season rice, so they are supported with 20,000 VND/kg of hybrid rice seeds, the maximum support level for each commune is not more than 70 million VND.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Quang, Head of the District Agriculture Department added: "This year's winter-spring crop is a warm spring crop, so the industry has directed strongly to plant seedlings for planting. The District People's Committee has directed that after Tet, all early spring meetings and conferences be stopped to focus on the 2016-2017 winter-spring production."

In Hung Nguyen, up to now, 3,400/5,700 hectares of spring rice have been planted. Currently, Hung Nguyen still has 2,300 hectares that have not been planted, concentrated in the communes of Hung Yen Bac, Hung Yen Nam, Hung Trung, Hung Tien Hung Thang, Hung Lam, Hung Long, Hung Linh.

After 3 days of Tet holiday, starting from the 4th, people started going to the fields to plow and fertilize the soil to plant spring rice. The current difficulty is that the water level in the Le canal is high, causing 200 hectares of rice fields in Hung Trung commune to be flooded and unable to be planted. Therefore, Hung Trung commune is asking the Nam irrigation company to lower the water level of Bara Nghi Quang to prevent flooding for farmers to plant spring rice. Hung Nguyen strives to close all spring rice areas by February 10.

Previously, from the second day of Tet, farmers in many localities went to the fields to sow and plant crops in time for the season.
