Hot: Venezuelan opposition leader declares himself president
Amid thousands of protests taking place in Venezuela, opposition leader Juan Guaido declared himself president of the country.

The United States has recognized him as the former head of state and called on Venezuela's current president, Nicholas Maduro, to transfer power.
Mr Guaido said he was not afraid of going to jail, but worried "for people who are going through a very bad time."
Earlier, many protests by opponents and supporters of the current president began in Venezuela. Thousands of people participated. The actions ended in clashes. Clashes between the army and protesters in Venezuela, with casualties, with 6 people killed.
