'Hot' space for selling flowers and ornamental plants for Tet in Vinh city
(Baonghean.vn) - With only 1 month left until the Lunar New Year of Giap Thin 2024, small traders are actively looking for business locations to sell flowers and ornamental plants for Tet in Vinh City; although accepting high rental prices, finding a location is not easy.
Walking along Lenin Avenue, 72m, National Highway 46..., we saw many people gathering to stretch tarpaulins, set up kiosks, hang signs... to prepare for the Tet flower business.
Mr. Nguyen Van Long - owner of a flower shop on Le Nin Avenue shared: "This year the economy is difficult, we put our hopes on this Tet business. However, with a large number of sellers, finding a location is not simple. For example, I rent 5 meters of street frontage and have to pay over 60 million VND and pay half in advance."
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thom in Nghi An commune (Vinh city) has been working in the flower and ornamental plant business for many years and now wants to go to the city center to look for a place. She has contacted many landowners, but all she received were that they were already rented.
Ms. Thom shared: Every year, the family sells in their garden, waiting for customers to come and ask to buy. This year, we want to bring our products to the city center in the hope of selling better, and at the same time to promote our bonsai brand, but all the good locations on the streets are rented. We will probably have to continue doing business in our garden.
Before the Tet flower season this year, flower traders were worried because of forecasts of poor purchasing power, economic recession, and consumers tightening their spending. Meanwhile, according to surveys, the price of flower and ornamental plant business premises in Vinh City is always high.
Landowners often rent out land based on the road width; the average price ranges from 10 to 20 million VND/meter. For example, a location on Lenin Avenue, 5 meters of road frontage, 20 meters of depth (100m2) will have a rental price of 50 - 100 million VND/month.
Due to the high demand for selling flowers and ornamental plants during Tet, while the space is not enough to meet the demand, encroachment on traffic safety corridors to sell flowers and ornamental plants is common during Tet.
Vinh City People's Committee assigned functional forces including the Police, the City's Urban Order Management Team and wards and communes to be responsible for ensuring security and order at flower selling points during Tet 2024; handling cases of business, flower and ornamental plant trading encroaching on roadsides and sidewalks in violation of regulations... The city government also requires that after closing business, shop owners must return the premises to their original condition and clean up the environment.
It is known that Vinh city has planned to build the first flower market in Vinh city and Nghe An province with an area of about 10 hectares in Kim Chi hamlet, Nghi An commune.
Currently, the site clearance work to build a flower market in Kim Chi hamlet has been basically completed. When it comes into operation soon, it will solve the problem of lack of space for flower business during Tet, as well as create a highlight for Vinh city tourism in the future.
