Breaking News: North Korea launches multiple missiles into the Sea of ​​Japan.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said that in the early hours of March 6, North Korea launched four missiles, three of which landed in Japan's exclusive economic zone.

The BBC, citing South Korean military sources, reported that the missile launch reportedly occurred at 7:36 a.m. (local time) from Tongchang-ri, near North Korea's northern border with China.

South Korea is actively working to identify the type of missile.

However, analysts suggest that this could be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) because Tongchang-ri is an area frequently used for North Korea's long-range missile tests.

Last month, North Korea also announced the successful testing of a new type of ballistic missile, conducting the launch under the supervision of leader Kim Jong-un.

North Korea is prohibited from testing any type of missile or nuclear technology, therefore the February test was strongly condemned by the United Nations, the United States, South Korea, and Japan.

North Korea has repeatedly asserted that its space program is peaceful; however, Pyongyang is believed to be developing intercontinental ballistic missiles with a range capable of reaching US territory.

The country is also believed to be seeking to develop nuclear warheads small enough to fit onto a missile.

The missile test on March 6th took place amidst the annual joint military exercise between the United States and South Korea, codenamed "Foal Eagle." North Korea consistently views these exercises as war rehearsals for Pyongyang.
