Fined 50 million VND for buying fireworks from Saigon to Nghe An and hiding them in a closet
(Baonghean.vn) - Son went online to buy fireworks to ship to his rented house in Ho Chi Minh City, waiting to bring them back to his hometown to use during Tet. Before they could explode, Son was reported and had to pay a fine of 50 million VND.
On the morning of March 25, 2021, Tan Ky District People's Court tried the criminal case against Nguyen Viet Son (born in 1988), residing in Duong Hap hamlet, Nghia Dung commune, Tan Ky district, for the crime ofpossession of prohibited goods.
Accordingly, on January 26, 2021, Son was working in Ho Chi Minh City when he had the idea of buying fireworks to use on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2021. Son went to a game store in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City to access the Internet to buy fireworks.
When accessing the website (Son does not remember the address), he saw someone selling fireworks, so Son ordered 02 boxes of 49 fireworks, each box costing 1,300,000 VND and 02 boxes of 36 fireworks, each box costing 1,000,000 VND.

On January 27, 2021, a delivery man delivered a package to Son's rented room in Binh Chanh District, Ho Chi Minh City. Son paid for it and then took the package into his rented room to open it and check. Knowing that it was the fireworks he wanted to buy, Son hid it in his rented room.
On January 31, 2021, Son brought 4 boxes of explosive fireworks to his house in Duong Hap hamlet, Nghia Dung commune and hid them in the wardrobe.
At about 7:00 p.m. on February 1, 2021, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police received a complaint from the people accusing Son of storing fireworks at his residence, so at about 9:15 p.m. the same day, Tan Ky District Police conducted an emergency search of Son's residence.
During the search, Tan Ky District Police discovered and seized two rectangular boxes in Son's bedroom wardrobe.
On February 2, 2021, the Investigation Police Agency of Tan Ky District Police established a Council to open the seal, weigh and determine the weight and take samples for appraisal of the firecrackers seized from Nguyen Viet Son with a total weight of 6.4 kg.
The forensic conclusion of the Criminal Technical Department of Nghe An Provincial Police concluded that the samples marked M1 and M2 sent for examination were all firecrackers.
At the investigation agency, defendant Nguyen Viet Son confessed all his crimes.
At the end of the trial, the panel of judges sentenced Nguyen Viet Son to 50 million VND.
