After many years in the "hot seat" of judging, People's Artist Minh Vuong said he accepts that his frank comments can cause people to argue.
People's Artist Minh Vuong is a guest on the latest episode ofAcademy of Reformed OperaThe male artist accepted to participate in the program with the desire to pass on his experience to juniors, in order to build a more progressive cai luong art.

According to Minh Vuong, in addition to basic knowledge, artists must always explore and create to leave their own mark. That is what he has been doing since entering the singing profession. He believes that artists must be proactive in creating, using their understanding and emotions to express their opinions to clearly express their characters as well as themselves.
Backstage at the show, People's Artist Minh Vuong also recalled the process from a young boy starting his career to becoming famous. He said that when he was about 12-13 years old, he often went to catch betta fish to sell. One day, he passed by a class teaching vọng cổ singing. Minh Vuong was very passionate about singing and had some ability but did not think he would become an artist.

“I hid outside the classroom and looked in. Teacher Bay Trach asked me who I needed to see. I said I liked to sing vọng cổ, so he immediately called me in to audition. After I finished singing, he said my voice was good and I had hope, so I asked him to let me learn to sing. The class had 2-3 musicians, and the person who taught me how to sing and play was People's Artist Van Gioi.
He guided and corrected me when I made mistakes. In 1964, when the competitionRestored Vong Co"When the competition took place, the teacher chose me to compete even though there were many students in the class with good singing voices. I won the prize that year, and my life turned a new page," he recalled.
After that, People's Artist Minh Vuong was invited by Kim Chung troupe to sign a contract. Of the 10,000 VND he received, he gave half to Mr. Bay Trach to repay his debt, and the rest to his mother. However, when he joined Kim Chung troupe, he could not play a male role, and was too old to play a child role. Therefore, in many plays, the artists just ran out, sang a vọng cổ verse, and then walked in.
Many people advise Minh Vuong to keep his voice in good condition, because this is an important “weapon” for artists on stage. In particular, the time when a boy’s voice breaks to become a teenager can easily affect his singing voice. People’s Artist Minh Vuong said that during this period, there are many changes in his body. He is also quite pressured because if his voice breaks completely, he may not be able to maintain his singing career.
At the age of 74, People's Artist Minh Vuong still focuses on preserving his singing voice. He has a serious and meticulous lifestyle to preserve his strength and preserve himself for his career.

The artist said that he has been on stage for more than half a century but now he still feels like he was young. Every time he goes on stage, he feels excited and nervous beyond description. Minh Vuong is happy that at the age of 74 he can still meet the audience and be loved by them. Therefore, he always has to prepare carefully to avoid mistakes every time he performs.
Although he has a lot of experience in the profession, he still practices regularly and researches new things. “Age also affects many things. Therefore, I have to practice singing to see if this word is okay, if that part is pleasing to the ear…”, People’s Artist Minh Vuong shared.
People's Artist Minh Vuong has also been a judge and taught contestants in many other competitions about Cai Luong art. He often gives frank comments, sometimes receiving opposing opinions, but artists are never worried.
Minh Vuong confided: “I think it is necessary to express my true thoughts and perceptions to my colleagues, especially the young people, first for themselves and then for the sake of cải lương. This may make many people dislike it, gossip, even anger, but I accept it. I have been through many things, with successes and failures, so I just want to pass it all on to you.”
