People's Artist Trong Trinh, U70, still in good shape, happy with his wife 16 years younger
At nearly 70, People's Artist Trong Trinh lives a happy and healthy life, always maintaining positive energy. The artist finds peace in his marriage with his wife Lan Phuong, 16 years younger than him.
I'm not rich, just having enough to eat is enough.

- Rarely participatemovieTV in the South, what special experiences do you have?
BeforeFemale lawyer, I had the opportunity to do some television works in the South such as sitcomSouthern Comedy, Uncle Ba Phi…so I'm not too surprised with the atmosphere of the studio and the filming work here.
Usually, with Northern films, audiences are familiar with political films while the South prefers more entertaining films. Each region has different cultural tastes, but I believe that regardless of the topic, the content must first attract viewers.
- Does acting and directing at the same time cause difficulties for you in this project?
MovieFemale lawyerhas an interesting material. The film script not only captures current issues but is also carefully researched from a legal perspective. However, because the film is based on a true story and is topical, it is extremely difficult to make it true to its substance.
Sometimes there are quite heated arguments and arguments between me and screenwriter Chau Tho. However, we all just want the film to be shown in the best way.
The film is set in Ninh Thuan, with hot summer weather, sandy areas and temperatures always above 35 degrees Celsius. The film has many different characters and independent scenes, so the production process was more difficult than usual.

- At this age, you are still actively working. What helps you keep your energy so high?
I work hard, forgetting my age. When I get to work, I am like a moth to a flame, regardless of day or night, staying up late and waking up early. Perhaps it is because of passion and love that helps me forget all the difficulties and hardships.
After finishing a project, I allow myself to rest for a few days. I like to be alone, in a quiet space to recharge. At this age, sometimes you need to slow down, not always be full of enthusiasm.
In addition to making films, I am also a judge and a guest at several events. I am currently the Vice President of the Vietnam Lion and Dragon Dance Federation, and recently had a business trip to promote Vietnamese culture and martial arts in Europe.
Many actors my age slow down or stop working, but I live naturally. It all depends on each person's energy and spirit.
- People sayPeople's Artist Trong Trinhrich just from making movies, what is your response to this information?
I'm past the days of farming and the burden of making a living. After years of hard work, I have a small fortune to protect myself in my old age. Now I prioritize product quality, not working recklessly and trading my reputation for money.
However, it would be a lie to say that I don't need money at this age. I still need money to pay for my monthly living expenses. In addition to passion and enthusiasm, artists also want a salary that is commensurate with the effort they put in.
I have always made money from art, but how many people are rich making movies? The profession was only given to me by my ancestors, and few artists are successful in business or have a side job. Having enough to eat is enough to be happy.
Marriage is sometimes shaky

- How do you take care of your health and spirit to maintain your appearance at the age of nearly 70?
My biological clock is really crazy. I don't play much sports, I eat haphazardly, and I often stay up late and wake up early. I pay special attention to sleep, trying to sleep deeply, just a few hours is enough. I think it's thanks to my grandparents' blessings and my genes that I still have enough energy to go out and work at this age.
People often say why are you so young at this age, I joke."Because Trong Trinh does not know how to plot". Let's be sincere and innocent to reduce sadness. In life, don't compare the gains and losses too much with friends and relatives.
- Marrying a wife 16 years younger, did you have to change to reconcile the generation gap? How did you and your wife resolve conflicts?
My wife is lively and chatty, while I am introverted and gentle. Our personalities are opposite, but that is what makes us complement each other. Over the years, she has been thoughtful and supported me little by little. Before each business trip, my wife prepares each pill, bottle of oil, and packs clothes into a suitcase. She takes care of everything in the house and outside so that I can focus on my work.
Married life has its ups and downs. I always tell myself 'patience is the key to good fortune'. It is important that my partner is understanding and tolerant. She has never differentiated between her biological children and her stepchildren, but has always cared for my two sons with all her heart. I could not ask for more than a thoughtful and understanding wife.
My wife is sometimes jealous and sometimes nags me for always being away. I have to explain that this is my job, my lifelong passion. Now, she has gradually accepted that her husband is an artist and has to travel outside the home.

- You go out all the time, have you ever made your wife suspicious, afraid that her husband is "unstable and unstable"?
It is important to understand and trust each other. Many people say that couples of this age sometimes close their eyes, but in my opinion, it is not necessary, just look at each other comfortably.(laugh)
Of course, it's normal to have a few emotional moments outside of marriage, as long as it doesn't go too far.
I think no one can keep the flame of love forever. Sometimes it is unstable, and artists are sensitive, so this is inevitable. I always behave moderately with my co-stars and people of the opposite sex when going out.
I told my wife:“If I have a crush, it's just an emotional moment, you don't have to worry.”We are straightforward with each other like that, instead of keeping doubts and resentment in our hearts.

- Are you satisfied with your life now?
I joke that I am even busier now that I am retired. I often work on films, community projects, and travel around for work. I hope to be healthy enough to work for many more years.
My children are married and have stable jobs in the media industry. Both of them have studied abroad and have achieved some success, so I am quite reassured.
I am a grandfather so I like to play with my grandchildren when I have free time. Because I am always away from work, I always prefer to stay at home on my free days. Sometimes I gather with friends for coffee, go on trips or go to the stadium to cheer for football. Everything at this age just goes with the flow.
