People's Artist Xuan Bac: Strictly handle artists who go against good customs and traditions

Coordinate to tighten management of artistic content on cyberspace
On October 27, the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information (Ministry of Information and Communications) held a working session to rectify the situation of music products with offensive and culturally deviant content appearing on the internet recently.
The meeting was attended by People's Artist Xuan Bac, Director of the Department of Performing Arts, and Mr. Le Quang Tu Do, Director of the Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information. The two sides agreed on the need to take strict measures to restore order to build a healthy cultural environment, especially to protect young people from negative influences.
Detailed analysis of the controversial song
Mr. Le Quang Tu Do said that the incident involving singer Jack's song with offensive lyrics is a typical example. According to him, although the singer has explained, the content is "defensive and unconvincing".
The Department of Radio, Television and Electronic Information has thoroughly inspected and found that many sentences in the song have signs of violation. Mr. Tu Do cited: "For example, the sentence 'Whatever Lao also respects' - after careful inspection, even when slowing down the playback speed to hear clearly, the singer still actually sang that sentence, not as explained."
He also dismissed the excuse of "improvisation" when the performance had a well-coordinated dance team, showing that it had been rehearsed beforehand. He stressed that management agencies must rely on actual assessment and public feedback, instead of relying solely on the artist's explanation.
People's Artist Xuan Bac: Art must be selective and spread humanistic values
On the side of the Department of Performing Arts, People's Artist Xuan Bac affirmed the view that art must serve life but it must be a "selected life". A true work of art must fulfill aesthetic and educational functions and convey humanistic values.
"Any offensive expression in lyrics, costumes, language, etc. that goes against good customs must be strictly handled," People's Artist Xuan Bac emphasized. He also said that the Department is in the process of reviewing and advising on amendments to legal documents such as Decree 144 to increase deterrence and management effectiveness.
Orientation to rectify performance activities
Both Directors highly appreciated the inter-sectoral coordination and considered it a key factor for effective management. Mr. Le Quang Tu Do also expressed his support for the official dispatch of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee on the proposal to consider not inviting artists with deviant products and behaviors to participate in city events.
The common goal of management agencies is to build a solid legal corridor that both encourages artistic creation and ensures a sustainable and oriented cultural and entertainment environment, contributing to the cause of national cultural revival and development.
