Meritorious Artist Do Ky was sad and surprised when he missed the title of People's Artist.
Meritorious Artist Do Ky shared that he was sad and confused when his application for the title of People's Artist was put on hold due to a complaint.
On November 21, Meritorious Artist Do Ky received a notice from the Department of Performing Arts (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) that his application for the title of People's Artist was suspended. This document stated that due to a complaint and comments from the Ministry of Public Security, this application was not eligible for consideration for the title of People's Artist.

Sharing with VTC News, Meritorious Artist Do Ky said: "I was shocked and even sadder when I received this notice. I found it strange because in more than 40 years of working, I have never done anything wrong, violated the law, violated my profession... so I don't understand what their purpose was in sending the petition at the exact time I was applying for the title of People's Artist?".
Up to now, the artist still does not know what he is being complained about. "I want to know the content and want to have the content of the petition clarified. If the content of the petition is not true, is the petitioner guilty of slander? I want to clarify this because it affects my personal honor and reputation, but I am not satisfied with the document the Department of Performing Arts sent me.
If I had violated anything that required disciplinary action, the Department of Performing Arts, the grassroots council, would not have reviewed and submitted my file to the ministerial council. I feel that I have absolutely no right to protect my honor – the most basic human right,” Meritorious Artist Do Ky was indignant.

Do Ky affirmed that he did not apply for the title of People's Artist because of the title: "I did not apply because of the title, I do not strive to become this or that person. Living in this world, being lucky enough to have a job that I like and trying to do it well is already a great satisfaction. But this affects my honor and reputation."
VTC News reporter contacted Ms. Tran Ly Ly, Acting Director of the Department of Performing Arts but has not received a response.
