Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy shivered after almost getting a nail stuck through his head while filming.
With just a little bit of bad luck, Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy could have had a serious accident while filming the scene of being pushed down in the movie "Life is Still Beautiful".

- The Ministry of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs has just issued Circular 05/2023/TT-BLDTBXH with the List of arduous, toxic and dangerous occupations, including film actors. After many years of struggling with the profession, and having been bruised a lot with the movie "Life is still beautiful", does Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy agree with this new decision?
It is true that acting is a dangerous profession! When you said that, I just remembered that the other day, when I was filming the scene where Bat grabbed the money and pushed Mrs. Tinh down, I hit my head against a wall with wooden boards stacked on top of each other. Thinking back now, I still feel scared. Looking to the side where I had just fallen, I saw a long nail sticking out. Just a hair's breadth away, the nail could have been stuck in my head.
Because I was pushed so hard that I hit the back of my head against the wall, I was very dizzy. Thinking back, I really shudder because if I had been stabbed in the head with a nail, I would have been ten centimeters and I wouldn't know what would have happened. There were many dangerous situations during filming, but all of them had to rely on luck because I didn't know how to avoid them.
But I wonder what will happen after acting is recognized as a dangerous profession? The acting processLife is still beautifulI jokingly asked if the actors got toxic money when they breathed in that suffocating polluted air every day. (Filming scene)Life is still beautifulMrs. Tinh's house is near a stinking and toxic waste ditch (PV).
- Looking back at Mrs. Tinh in "Life is still beautiful", is this the most difficult role that actress Thanh Quy has ever played?
This is a role that really drains me, both mentally and physically. Because one thing after another happens to the character, my psychology is always weighed down. Overall, this is one of the most difficult roles I have ever played.

- When you finished "Thuong ngay nang ve", you said you would stop acting for a while but immediately after that you jumped into "Cuoc doi van dep sao". Now that the film has finished filming, is Meritorious Artist Thanh Quy afraid of roles like this or will you act in another film right away?
You are familiar with this profession! I told you to stop, but if you see a good role that you like, you will eagerly go on. You keep saying that even though everyone knows that this profession is hard. To play the role of a bricklayer, an actor must be able to do almost the same.
For example, Hoang Hai or Thanh Huong plays the role of Luu or Luyen inLife is still beautifulhad to pull heavy carts back and forth for months to accompany the role. Working in any profession for a long time will give you a basis to get used to the work, but for an actor, it's like riding a horse to see flowers, getting into a role with a profession you've never experienced for several months is a challenge.
- In this film, you play a street vendor carrying a basket of donuts on her head as she travels through every nook and cranny of Hanoi. The audience wonders whether actress Thanh Quy is actually carrying the basket of donuts or if it is just symbolic? Did anyone buy the real donuts because they didn't recognize actress Thanh Quy?
Of course, I only wear it moderately, to save money for the film crew. Some people also bought cakes because they thought I was a real street vendor because I was dressed in black, had a pale face, and wore a tattered hat like that.

- Actors who act in TV dramas usually don't get paid much and have to stay with the crew for months. Young actors, after filming, will do commercials to earn extra income, but you don't. The pay is often gone after the film is finished, but you invest too much in the role, so what do you get in return?
Actually, for old people like me, spending is not expensive, just at a moderate level. The money is mainly used to buy medicine to improve health, the rest is not needed for too many clothes or vehicles.
However, in recent years, the film salary has been better, so the actors' lives have also improved. Up until now, I have been living frugally thanks to the film salary because if I did not do this job, I would not know how to do anything else. Thank God, every film I make has more money to spend, but up until now, I still have to calculate my expenses reasonably to still be able to live when I am not making films.
- At the age of 65, you still drive your motorbike to film every day and take care of your own costumes?
I can still ride a motorbike so I don't bother the film crew and I take care of my own clothes and costumes. This job doesn't make you rich, just enough to eat and spend is good because it's not always possible to have a good movie or get a leading role.

- After the long and tiring main role in "Life is still beautiful" which just finished filming a few weeks ago, are you taking time to rest or have you continued your new journey?
I was going to rest but I got an invitation so I've been filming for a few days now but yesterday I got caught in the rain and I'm feeling sluggish. But I don't care, it'll be fine! I'm resting for a bit, I'll cook rice and watch a movie later.
