(Baonghean) - For 10 consecutive years, the Party Branch of U Hamlet, Nghia Thang Commune, has achieved the title of exemplary clean and strong, and the lives of the people in the hamlet have seen many positive changes. This achievement is largely due to the significant contributions of the Party Branch Secretary, Nguyen Thi Minh Hai.

In Hamlet U, Nghia Thang Commune, over 90% of the population are ethnic minorities, and the people face many difficulties in their lives. In 2005, when entrusted with the responsibility of being the Party Branch Secretary by the Party members and the people, Comrade Nguyen Thi Minh Hai had many doubts and concerns. How to make the Party branch stronger, demonstrate its leadership role among the masses, and advance various movements? This question was always on her mind, and she gradually sought the answer. Therefore, in Party branch meetings as well as hamlet meetings, she always raised her concerns and sought ways to develop the economy and alleviate poverty for the people. Together with the Party branch and other organizations, she promoted propaganda and encouraged Party members to be exemplary pioneers in various movements, especially in the restructuring of crop and livestock production.

In Hamlet U, there are 30 hectares of land planted with sugarcane. Comrade Hai mobilized households to plant the new QD193 sugarcane variety on 100% of the area. After the first planting season, the new sugarcane variety, with a yield of 60 to 80 tons/ha, created a sensation, prompting many other hamlets to learn about and follow suit. In addition, on the land used for double-cropping rice, he encouraged people to plant chili peppers in the winter season. Thanks to the shift in crop structure, many families in Hamlet U have escaped poverty and become relatively wealthy. Furthermore, Comrade Hai also encouraged Party members and families to increase livestock farming, raising buffaloes, cows, goats, and deer to increase income… He confided: “Initially, I faced many difficulties in the mobilization work because the people lacked money, making everything difficult and fearing losses. However, when I boldly encouraged them, coordinated with the hamlet head and the hamlet committee to find sources of capital for the people to borrow, and went to each household to persuade them…”

Previously, Ms. Le Thi Xung faced many difficulties in life. After following the guidance of the Party branch, she boldly invested in raising breeding goats, and now, her family earns over 50 million VND annually from goat farming. Ms. Xung said: “Thanks to the guidance from Ms. Hai and the officials who came down to spread the message, my family boldly switched to raising goats. They are easy to raise, the food is easy to find, and moreover, goats reproduce quickly, giving birth to two litters a year, with two offspring each, so the herd expands quickly and brings more efficiency compared to some other livestock.” As for Mr. Pham Duc Tho's family, after being informed about poverty alleviation, he invested in raising two breeding buffaloes, earning 30 to 40 million VND annually from the buffaloes. Raising breeding buffaloes is also a direction chosen by many in U hamlet, because it takes advantage of the food source from sugarcane leaves and the abundant grazing land. Thanks to the rational restructuring of crop and livestock production, the poverty rate in U hamlet has decreased significantly; in 10 years, the poverty rate has fallen from 53% to only 12%.

The commendable achievements of Hamlet U are largely due to the active contributions of Party Branch Secretary Nguyen Thi Minh Hai. Besides her duties, she proactively develops the economy and cares for her family. Her words and actions inspire confidence and trust in everyone. Therefore, when new policies and guidelines are implemented, the people of Hamlet U respond enthusiastically. Commenting on Comrade Hai, Comrade Nguyen Duc Hue, Secretary of the Nghia Thang Commune Party Committee, affirmed: “Comrade Hai is a dynamic cadre who always matches her words with actions. The Hamlet U Party Branch has consistently received high praise, earning the title of exemplary clean and strong for 10 years. The commune uses her as a model and honors her so that other Party branches can follow suit.” Sharing her thoughts with us, Party Branch Secretary Nguyen Thi Minh Hai didn't talk about herself but instead expressed her concerns about how to further develop the hamlet and village. He said: “Recently, the province sent me on a tour to the northern provinces, and I saw many talented people there. Many places have the same ethnic minority population as ours, but they are very developed. Returning home, I pondered how to strengthen the Party branch, ensure the people have access to paved roads, and improve their living standards even further…”
