She had previously made a deal with investigators, but this did not affect the restraint measure.

Maria Butina has been in custody since November 20. She was initially held in solitary confinement for 30 days because she gave another inmate her lawyer’s phone number. The Russian woman was due to be moved to a general prison cell on December 19, but has been held in solitary confinement ever since.

Maria is in her cell 22 hours a day and she can only leave her cell for 2 hours at night.

Butina was arrested in the US in July 2018 and charged with acting as a foreign agent.
